I just noticed how quiet the forum is (which is really good), and wondering what we can do to help increase revenue for you guys via your clients or maybe just something you or your clients want. Respond in here and we'll see if we can't get some new things put on the servers for you all.

I'd like to see SSL on the support system. I recently submitted new credit card data through the secure web form because my card expired. A ticket was automatically created that contained all of my financial info in plain text over a non secure connection. It's not a huge deal, but it isn't hard to fix either. Edit: Woops, I just looked at it again and the credit card number is not listed. Everything else is though.
I would also like to see phone support actually available. I consider myself fairly self sufficient, but if it is needed, it should be there as advertised. I had a site hacked a couple of weeks ago while I was away on a trip and just wanted the site taken offline. The only phone extension that was manned that day was sales and they couldn't help. I was told to submit a ticket to get it taken care of. If I had access to submit a ticket, I could have just disabled the site myself. Again, this wasn't earth shattering, but it was frustrating. I do appreciate the direction you guys are heading with the company, and I know how hard it is to clean up someone else's mess. Thanks for listening to my gripes ![]() Last edited by nickp : 09-25-2009 at 10:54 PM. |

Now that Sharepoint Designer is free, I wouldn't mind seeing something available to use it with.

In no particular order:
- phone support - anonymous tech support for our clients - SQL Server 2005 (how about 2008?) - .Net 3.5 - an external (not hosted on any of your servers and not dependent on the availability of your services in anyway) dashboard that shows server statuses and any critical messages (http://twitter.com/VortechHosting - would work if it was used - an ongoing discussion (or at least communications from you) on vortech's strategic and immediate plans, business outlook, etc.

Phone support? If you have any problems with phone support please email sales@vortechhosting.com with the time you called and the day.
The only way we would do tech support for your clients is if you guys pay us more money for the service. .Net 3.5 is installed on every Windows 2k3 server The rest of it is already being discussed currently. |

PHP 5 would be great. Customers are asking constantly.
I am in the forums today trying to find an answer to my SSL problem, it seems GoDaddy whom I've been buying certs from for years is now saying: The CSR key length must be greater then 2048 and less then 4096 http://help.godaddy.com/article/5619 Microsoft®, for example, is a member of the Certificate Authority Browser Forum and supports these requirements for all certificates by incorporating the following requirements into their programs: * All new root certificates must have a minimum of 2048-bit RSA keys. * 1024-bit roots will be removed from the Microsoft Root Certificate Program by December 31st, 2010. * All end entity certificates issued after December 31st, 2010 must have a minimum of 2048-bit RSA keys. |
