Hackers Breach UC Berkeley Servers

It seems NO server is safer in terms of security. here is one latest news on hacking.

http://www.thewhir.com/web-hosting-n...rkeley_Servers

the shocking point is :

" The breach occurred from October 9, 2008 through April 9, 2009, at which point a campus computer administrator running a routine maintenance found messages left by the hackers. "

Surprising that a system admin could not identify this for so LONG !

Oh GOD, save all of us from hackers !

I've worked with a lot of IT security professionals over the years and never met a good one who would claim their systems were secure.

"Secure as far as we know" is the statement of a good security professional. Anything else is nonsense. The best ones always assume there's something nasty hiding on their systems awaiting it's moment.

interesting thread...

http://www.forum.psoft.net/showthread.php?t=28596

I did a little looking, we're not alone, this same attack is hitting hsphere everywhere, cpanel everywhere, and it looks like over 300 hosts world wide!

We're working on locking our setup down. I hope you all understand this is not an easy battle and we're doing our best for you!

Hello, there is a post in the "development" section with pretty strait forward instructions on how to "fix" common hacker damage. Or submit a ticket at http://vortechsupport.com concerning it, and we'll give you the basic steps to repair.

Hi all

I personally feel, Vortech can close the THREADS related to hacking and move forward. Its a known fact to everyone that sites are getting infected worldwide and every user has to safegaurd his/her ftp credentials and sites.

With the news portals highlighting this everywhere, its not hidden anymore.

Lets move forward with the other enhancements that are pending for long.

Hsphere upgrade, ms-sql 2005 and lots more..

Come on Craig, its back to you now !

Siva
