At 12:30 AM Tuesday Morning (Feb 2, 2005), the CP will be taken down for approx. 3 - 6 hours while we run a full vacuum on the database. This is basic maintanence that must be done to keep H-Sphere's database running at top speed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is it possible to run 2 cp servers? That's a looong time for a cp to be down...

I might be less as we just found a miss config on our cppgsql box that made the CP a LOT faster today.

That's both good AND bad to hear. Might there be any other misconfig's lingering anywhere around the system?

I thing redundancy is always good w/ servers, however, what is so vital in the cp that an occassional few hrs once in a blue moon matters?

As long as there is at least a weeks notice so I can have time to inform clients, I don't mind...

I always get my Aussie conversions wrong, I guess that means approx 4:30pm Wednesday, February 2nd ACST.

Well, here in Trinidad and Tobago, our time is GMT -4:00 I really don't understand EST, and ACST or all that stuff. *sigh*

Can you convert this for me?

If you're -4 and vortech quotes in EST (-5) (give or take for daylight savings) then you just add an hour to when they say this will happen.

Out of interest, does anyone know how often full vacuum on the database is carried out?

Yep, during the winter months, Orlando uses Eastern Standard Time ("EST") which is UTC -5. During the summer months (first Sunday in April to last Sunday in October), Orlando uses Eastern Daylight Time ("EDT") which is UTC -4.
