Mail Queue Situation

Hello,

Due to a spammer our mail queue for delivering messages has grown to an abnormal size. We have since found the spammer and removed the spam messages from the queue. After this we noticed there were still a large amount of messages in the queue. We are delivering these messages as fast as the server can go, which is around 100 messages per second! We apologize for the delays in messages.

Best Regards,

Aaron

any way you can give us an update, say, every hour or so until it's clear? Give us the number of messages in the queue?

any queue level update? I received some of my older messages, but some newer ones I'm still waiting for.

Are there still thousands of messages, hundreds, hundreds of thousands???

There are 50,000 messages in the queue now. The queue should be clear within the next half hour.

did it back up again after the issue earlier today, or is this the residual from the whole day?

You guys ever consider letting the windows/*nix boxes send their own mail during times like this?

Thanks

Never mind.... Beginning to get some now. One from a test script took about 54 minutes, but more recent tests are down to about 15 minutes.

It took about 26 hours to get back to normal and of the 26 messages (sent by a cron job) I was expected to receive during that timeframe 3 have been lost. This is a recurring problem that need to be solved. Using a single server to forward all the mail is a bottleneck that need to be eliminated.
In addition, the above notification of the problem has been posted after 16 hours from when the problem actually started. Notify customers that something is going on in timely matter would allow us to keep our customers better informed and make life easier for everyone. And just to answer to the argument someone is going to make: if they don't post here, the techs will have to spend time answering a number of tickets so non posting will not save any time or take care of the sitution any faster.
