Aaron decided he would go downtown. I have just received word that it's going to take longer than expected as unix16 seems to be having some bigger issues. The box is being brought to the office for investigation.

This is getting to be a bad habit... I moved fom cpanel2 to hsphere for stability, and so far I am not seeing much of an improvement. It seems to be down 15 minutes here, 10 minutes there, another 20 minutes some place else.

Why does unix16 seem to be so unstable?

Hello,

We had a hardrive failure on UNIX16 tonight. We believe this has been the cause of the instability with this machine. Luckily the hardrive that failed was a spare backup drive with no data on it.

Best Regards,

How about when things are expected to be back online? Or should I say it is already online, just checked.

It would be informative if tech could have better postings on the going on's until things are back normal. Here I though the issue was dragging on, but it seems the sites are back online already.

Tech should have responded by saying the above, and appended, the drive had been replaced and server back online at that point. Save us a lot of worries and make us informed of up to the minute status. It would makeit easier for us to respond to our customer's enquiries.

TEch UPdate

Greetings--
Here is the update for Unix16. We rebuilt the kernels on all Unix systems. All but this server is working fine. We have been working so hard on a fix for this since about 10pm on the 30th. We have tried different kernels, modified kernels, 'popcorn ' kernels. (alright well not the last kernel, but you get my point). Right now we are leaning towards a hardware issue. We are trying different memory, motherboards, etc.

To say we are working lightly on this issue is an understatement. We appreciate your understanding in this issue. This is our number one priority at the moment. Every available hand is working on this as well. When we have another update we will post it here as well. If your sites are running slow it is due to the server being at our office as opposed to the DataCenter. (not quite the 'pipe' at the DataCenter)

This is the kind of posts that keeps everyone in the know, and literally avoids unnecessary questions. I think most reselelres certainly understand these things do happen; and if a customer were to complain about slow access, I would definitely be able to respond immediately, with some excuse of the actual facts, whatever that suits the customer concerned. I woudl not have to spend time investigating an issue that is being addressed.

This stresses why Vortech should be highly detail in the information they post on updates so resellers can respond first-hand and efficiently to customer inquiries. That's all we are expecting.

Keep up the good work.

Everyone jump for joy. It seams to be stable. (18 hours uptime)

It is on its way to the datacenter. It shall be fast again.

We appologise for the long wierdness with this server. It has been a thorn in our sides as well.

Some patience is in order. the tech reported the server is on the way back to the DC; so unless Vortech has wirelss broadband throughout, some downtime to be expected.
