Seems to be up and running fast. Have my fingers crossed that we don't have much future troubles with this. I am currently developing a rather larger real estate listings site that will be a major revenue maker for my client.

Just started a 2 new sites on unix16 and the client it is previewing them as I build them. Don't exactly know how I'm going to weasel my way out of this one. Seems like unix16 has had problems for a while now. Is it a hardware, software, or comminications problem? Is it localized to unix16 or should I send out emails to my clients on other boxes?

I've been around since 2002; This is what I have to say. Put your mind at ease. A box having had so much attention and TLC from the techs back in Vortech office should behave. In any case, I was led to believe the OS or some software was a different version form other boxes; this could be the issue, and if the same version is loaded and it is indeed the source of problems, I would work my way out of Unix16. I have one account with two domains on Unix16 and I am sitting tight as well.

I can say the other boxes (UNIX) are all rock solid, to Vortechs credit! Nothing to worry there. It's only when the trouble starts and issues like this, you got little to worry coz it effects you and a bunch of others like me, so everyone has an eye on it, and Votrech too. If somehow problems related particularly to one of your domains, then a bit longer, but issues get sorted out sooner than later.

I still have good words for Vortech quality of work, customer interaction service could do with some help; but hey, no one is perfect and we gotta count our blessings. Vortech is one the the better hosts around and reliable too with superb architecture. (for the price)

What is the ETA for return to service?

Is there an update that I did not see?

Thanks,

Everything is up now. Thank you.

Support responded immediately with the message that I happened to check my sites during a reboot.

How do you work your way out of unix16? I never get a choice when I create a new account. Am I missing something?

When you create a new unix H-Sphere account, that new account MAY be on a different server. If it is, then you can back up your sites, delete them from the old account, and then load them into the new account which is on a different server.

You might be able to talk support into coordinating this for you, or maybe not.

The thing that bugs me the most is that I truely do love vortex, their customer service is amazing. Whenever I email or call they are right there to answer my questions or fix a problem. That being said, no matter how amazing customer service they have, it's not worth it if the server is up and down and not reliable.

This needs to be handled, as of right now I am looking for a new host to put one of my sites on that can not handle this much down time.....

BTW- it's down again......

Support told me it's a software issue causing it to need constant rebooting.

When that happens on my network I pull everything off the box, fire up a backup and totally format the offending unit. I also pull all hardware and memory and reseat.

If it still acts up, I give the box away to an employee to strip for parts.

The only way to work out of a box, I suppose is to create another account within HSphere.
