At 12:30 AM Tuesday Morning (March 1, 2005), the CP will be taken down for approx. 3 - 6 hours while we run a full vacuum on the database. This is basic maintenance that must be done to keep H-Sphere's database running at top speed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The last time this did take about 5 hours, but we have removed a LOT of old and bad data so this should be a lot shorter this time. I am hoping for around 3 hours or less.

Just as an fyi the email sent out said Feb instead of March it's also said the second, where as your saying the first here .. confused

Its shaping up to be a "first of each month" type of thing. It made a big differance in the stability and speed of the CP.. So......

Although i am for more stable and faster systems, you really should take a break from scheduled maintenace, the cp was done this month anyway, and my customer have had enough downtime rescently with the defragging.

anywho, keep up the good work.

There was mention a year or so back that it would be run monthly .. guess perhaps a few other things got in the way sounds like a good idea now though to keep up with the monthly clean outs.

I think the sunday idea is a good one. the once a month program is great idea I am all for clean system less down time in the long run.

Yeah, all for maintenance and all that, but please keep in mind that "12:30AM" is midday down here, which means I may as well tell clients that the CP will not be available one day of every month.

So if it can be done on the weekend, preferably Sunday, that would be good.

A backup CP box would be better of course.

Ok, Brad goofed and didn't let me read the announcement before it went out. The correct date is March 1st at 12:30am ET. I am going to have the announcement corrected and resent out. Sorry about the confusion.

It's not the CP we are working on but the database box for the CP. We are going to do them on the first tuesday of every month right now. It should not take as long this time.

Yeah, weekends mean nothing to me :-( BUT it does sound much better when detailing mainenance news to clients, if it is scheduled to run on the weekend...
