Lightbulb New-additional Mail Server Smtp Ports

Hsphere and Cpanel mail servers now ALSO listen on port 2525. They will STILL listen on 25 as well. This is for people whos ISP's are blocking port 25. Most mail clients will let you change to non-standard ports.

Just to be clear:

Hsphere and Cpanel mail servers listen for SMTP on ports 25 and 2525.

I am not sure which is harder teaching your customers how to change their mail client to use port 2525 or explaining to them that their email won't change if they use their ISP's mail server, but now THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

Cool

Yes, thanks for that. I just had a customer email me today complaining that mail was getting blocked. Turned out his ISP had got it's mailserver on a blacklist, and was re-routing all port 25 traffic to it's own server, so I couldn't get around it (until I read this post, that is!).

I use comcast in VA...not far from a main office, but they are not blocking here, so far. Can't totally say I blame them tho with so many spammer jerks. I report stuff to them all the time.

Ok, I'kk throw my 2 cents in! This is exactly what we were looking for. I spent a good couple of hours at our sales rep's home, trying to get her set up on email. She uses bluelight as her ISP. Of course, they block 25 as well.

Yippeee!

Cool

This was the clincher to me signing up to a new account this morning. In the UK, so many of the major ISPs are blocking 25 and 110 so this is a fantastic bonus. Hooray!!

OK, someone has to do it, I will reveal my ignorance. How would one set up an Outlook email client to get around the ISP blocking port 25, so that one would be able to get to the email server which is now listening on port 225.

By the way, so far Comcast in Plano Texas has not blocked outgoing email from getting to our servers. It may be becuase we used to be ATT Broadband.

I don't use outlook, but it should be somewhere like account settings/advanced - should show you what ports are set for POP3 and SMTP
