Holy cow! 19hrs? thats like 2 bussines days on the web!

Is this downtime a one off?

Vortech should upgrade to 10gig connections so all this file copying can be done quicker, but i know thats just wishful thinking

Yes yes, I agree.. Everything should be resolving for you guys now. I'm getting responses from DNS Stuff now and other machines off of the network.

It looks like earlier when they were attempting to get the shared IP working properly, the default route was misconfigured. All fixed now, thanks to James.

Well it was working now it's quit. At least I can ping it now so DNS shouldn't be far behind, I hope.

23:00 Hs GMT -3 Asunción Paraguay, SouthAmerica my site still down.... this sucks.... www.lavoz.com.py is working now but don't show all the content, still waiting 17 hours down

Most of the sites are now up. If you still see something down please put in a ticket.


Once I got down town we changed how the files were being moved and started it over. We moved them in about 1.5 hours, after that we just a had a few routing issues that we had to work out because we had an issue with the nic.

The new way we will be restoring files will be much faster next time around if something like this happens again..

I am very sorry about the down time and any one that is on this system can get a credit if you fill out the form. This should not happen and is what we were trying to keep from happening in the first place. Again I am truly sorry about the server being down so long when it should have only taking a max of 2 hours to restore all these files.

P.S. If you site is not working still and its been on the server longer then 48 hours please open a ticket so we can check the apache conf files that is what most likly is the problem.

The site probably went down because there were thousands of connections to the server all at once - I had to stop httpd & restart everything again. Keeping an eye on the load - interruptions may incur while everyone is hitting the server all at once & the mail queue is clearing, etc.

Alright-- basic sites are working but SQL doesn't seem to be? Is there MORE wait time on that portion of it?

I'm sure I've heard that before .. file restores really do seem to be the biggest cause of downtime here so I hope you can find a better more efficient method
