Hi All!
Just few questions before I sign up for a matrix reseller account. When is the new version of H-Sphere 2.4.2 with its added support for .co.uk, .ca & .de domain registration via OpenSRS likely to be available? We are based in the UK, so a lot of our new clients are going to wish a .co.uk domain when setting up a new account with us, If I sign up for a reseller account now, would we automatically be upgraded when the release version of H-Sphere 2.4.2 has been fully tested and is available? Also, I wish to provide my UNIX account based clients with full SSH access if it’s requested for database admin etc, any problems getting this setup? Out of interest has anybody got any opinions about my UK based company using hosting in the USA – as speed does not seem to be an issue! Any other downsides to this plan come to mind? Thanks for your reply’s Les ![]() Last edited by Les : 10-23-2004 at 10:00 PM. |

Hey there Les. Regarding H-Sphere upgrades, Vortech upgrades their entire cluster once they feel a new version is stable enough, so there is no need to worry about getting left behind. You're not stuck with the version you have when you sign up.
As for being UK-based, I wouldn't worry about it. Thanks to the extent to which Vortech hides their own branding, most people will never know who your host is or where they're located unless you explicitly tell them. I'm based in Canada myself, and there are probably hundreds of other resellers using Vortech from all around the world. My suggestion is not to outright tell people that you're not actually the owner of the hosting equipment you use, but admit it if anyone actually asks. My experience is that people appreciate the honesty. As for SSH access, well, that I'll leave to someone else, as I'm not familiar with it at all. Looking forward to seeing you around the forums. Take care... |

Yes, SSH Can be enabled on a per customer basis, when you set up your plans make sure to include the SSH resource, the customer can then from their control panel request this be enabled and tech support will usually have this turned on for them in a just a few hours.
Of course if it's for things like database administration, then you'll find you probably don't in fact need SSH, for one, the database servers are separate servers to the hosting servers, second between the control panel, phpmyadmin (which is installed) and the fact that remote admin is available using a remote tool like SQLYog you can do all the database administration you need really witout the use of SSH. |
