Once again, a nebie question...How in the world did any of you land on your plans and prices? I have been looking all over the web at other hosting providers and they are all over the board in services and prices. I want to be competative, have a decent profit margin, but also not price myself to low or two high.

I am also concerned about overwhelming a potential client with way too many options. It's one of the reasons I like www.winsave.com (who I used for years) becuase it was one plan/one price and very robust. But I don't want to be too simplictic.

It just seems extremely subjective. Anyone got any ideas from their experience? Any pitfalls I should be aware of as I get started here? Is this something that is hard to change once you get going?

Any help and wisdom would be greatly appreciated....

tmmanners welcome,

First I would say don't try to do everything. Figure out what you want to focus on. Take the matrix cost per plan/resource and break it down then add in your profit. Competitive doesn't mean cheap. Do a good job and make a profit. You have to know what your cost are first tho. I would say start simple first and progress with offerings. Hsphere(if your using it)offers both win/unix cpanel just unix and cheaper. If you have hsphere you need to spend time under the hood. It is more than just a cp. Also remember to set hard limits on plans and to moderate signups or people can signup run up resources, you get stuck with, and not pay. Spend time searching this forum. LOTS of info here. Good Luck!

Don't worry about prices initially, determine who your target market is aimed at first and then try and compare other hosts who offer similar services in that sector together and you should see a lot closer correlation in prices.
