Mysql1.hsphere.cc has been down for approximately ten minutes. We already have someone downtown looking into it.

Current status is that he's still running tests on-site but may have to bring it in for hardware diagnostics and/or repair. We'll keep you posted either way.

It was down yesterday too. Why is it down again? Is there a place that we get informed about these kind of things that I am not aware of? Its not fair to leave us in the dark, especially when I get called @ 3 in the morning by my clients wanting to know why their site is down?

The machine has been brought in for a motherboard replacement and will be returned downtown as soon as possible.
In the event of hard drive failure, we have a backup system in place and will restore all data on it immediately after repairing the system. At the moment we do not, however, believe that HD failure is an issue. |

Will refunds be given for this month... due to the mySQL downtime my websites best possible uptime for the billing period is at 99.8% (assuming this was fixed while i typed....)
With out mySQL my website is useless to me. |

jaymac: dont be such a pedantic ass, vortech does a really good job, sure this kind of stuff is irritating and sure they say 99.9% uptime guarantee but I mean come on give them some slack, they are really good hosts. Their support (Stephen) is really good.

there support is actually better than "really good". Its excellent. But business is business. Time is money, and this down time is seriously impeding on a tight development schedule. I keep my end of our relationship by paying every month, and I expect the same from them. And as you so eloquently pointed out, for the most part they do. |
