It's up. The bad news is that I had to use the older image, so it is roughly 5 days out of date.

so we are ok now? have we replaced the disc or repaired it? will it improve performace?

The drive was replaced, I doubt it will have any impact on the long term performance. If you were just recently experiencing problems it may have been related, but not necessarily.

I have a customer who is going mad that he lost 2 weeks worth of work and has no local backup.

What happend to yesterday's backup? We can't have this every time... :-(

To be fair, our clients' backups are not VT's responsibility, but it sounds strange that the next recent backup was 5 days old. Aren't they taken daily?
