Look...This is not a rant...this is simply a plea for help.

I've been patient for the past 2 days while everything was recovering...I completely understand that things are gonna happen and it takes time to recover.

But today is the third day that we've been down and we need some help....We should have been up today - but I haven't received any replies from my ticket from you guys since 12:40 - until you replied at 6:50.
As Brad said in one post, "I like to eat." Well so do I. And this disaster has really hurt us....we've lost 3 days of sales and more...

So please just help me....I just need to get our site up.

I have already taken care of both of your issues. That said, please confine this to tickets in the future. We check the tickets a LOT more often than this thread. As I'm sue you can imagine, we have had a plethora of tickets these past few days.

Will do. Thanks...I know you guys have been swamped.
I do have a question though...
If I was to update the ticket with my "frustration" - wouldn't that move it to the bottom of your queue and then it would take even longer ?
I just want to know for future reference...thanks again for your help.

Right guys I am now sick of this. You are killing both my business and my reputation in addition to your own. Before you tell me that I should in future keep this sort of rant in the ticket based system, I will disagree with you as the response to urgent requests is that they are not treated as urgent and it is only right that everyone knows what is going on.

There is a problem with the ASP.NET process on NT38 - I asked for it to be recycled as a matter of urgency and it still has not been done nor has my ticket been responded to.

You run a businesss(for how much longer I am not sure), if you cannot cope with this sort of disaster in a reasonable amount of time, and 4 days is not reasonable, then perhaps you need to think long and hard about the situation. You are not responding to tickets in a reasonable amount of time, why not just employ a couple of cheap gofers to update the tickets to at least give your resellers an update or some acknowledgement that the ticket has been received and will be dealt with. This is simple customer service not rocket science.

In addition there is nobody answering the telephones !!!!

Please please please for my sake and your own - sort this out.

Asp.net was kind of out of our hands due to a psoft script. We got a new script last night I am going to check on how that worked out.

Good news, Good News..

Yesterday we did some testing with Symantec LiveState http://norton.com/small_business/pro...r30/index.html and it went VERY VERY well as far as the backup goes. We backedup NT29 to a 2nd drive in less then 50min. This is not files this is a LIVE image of the drive. If the HD failed we would be able to put it back up in no time. We have not tested the restore yet, we just did the backup yesterday. But it should be able to restore the image in about the same amount of time or less.

This means a drive fails we stick a new drive in, put the CD in pull the image from the 2nd drive and back online just let we were before the drive died. We are doing an aduit today on the systems after we test the restore and some more testing to see how and what drives we need to put in every system so they have a drive to backup to.

This is not great news for what happend with NT38 but will be if we can get this in plan and going before another crash.

You are right, they are 250GB Ent. seagate SATA, said to be as good as there scsi, but just not sure now. We don't really need 10k or 15k drives for a web server the drive almost never gets that busy. Plus we uped all the plans space so were looking at other options. I think we will stick 73GB scsi's for now on.

Ok more good news.

We tested the restore of a data drive, how does 14 min. to restore ALL data back to the drive FULL permissions sound. NO waiting on data to move accross the network, NO waiting for permissions to reset, No waiting for ASP.Net permissions to be reset.

This will work in our setup if we are able to restore the OS and DATA drive from the gost images back to the same system. We are going to look at including all of the SCSI and SATA drives we use on all boxs so it could boot to any box we have used in the past and we will have to keep this up to date on all systems of course.

The one thing that we will have to do to make this plan work is put IDEA drives in EVERY windows box including mssql boxs. We did this to NT29 yesterday and took us 5 min. to 10 min total to do it. We will try and set these to be done at night time, but we might split it 1/2 or something since the downtime is so short and I would like to get this done before we have another server want to take a dive.

Hope this makes you guys fill a little better and that we are going to fix this issue for good this time. Yea I know I said that before, but this time we are about 99% sure this is 1000x better and faster then any way we have tested or even tried before.

Another reason I like R'spect $1300 for multi-server version I'm sure the actual pricing for Symantec though is different as you'll be buying license bundles not just 1 server at a time.

Glad to hear it. I have always found images tons quicker. Hopefully symantec won't mangle the sw...They are very sloppy these days IMO. Since most users need to be responsible for individual files any way all VT needs to do is cover failure issues. I will say scsi is great, but if you thing it is feasible I wouldn't rule out those drives just because 2 went bad and you don't seem real sure what happened, at least from what was shown. You have had enough scsi hd problems since I have been here

BTW, I have heard good things about retrospect.
