**New Backup System**
**New Backup System**
We have added a new "Account Backups" feature which is available to all resellers and end-user accounts. This backup feature is intended only as a free value-added service to our clients. At this time only web content and MySql databases can take advantage of this feature. Our orginal backup scheme is still in place for all servers (including MS SQL and PGSql), and available for $60.00 per our original backup policy. For Resellers: First you must enable it on your plans: 1) Login to your Administrative Panel. 2) Click on the plan you want to add the backup feature to. 3) Check the "include" box next to "Account Backups" on the first page of the plan setup. Setup and use for end-user accounts: 1) Login to any user panel utilizing a plan which has "Account Backups" enabled. 2) Click on the "Account Backups" icon, or depending on your skin choose Account>>Account Backups from the nav menu. 3) Once on the Account Backups screen you'll find a variety of options available to you. ------------------------------------- Overview of Features: ------------------------------------- *Backup/Restore Queue: This shows you the current status of your backup action and options for downloading and deleting the backups you create. Backup and restore time depends on how big the site or file is. Do not refresh this page. Use your back button or log back in a few minutes to check the current status. !! Anything sitting in this queue will be deleted after 30 days. !! *Domain Backups: Here you can choose the domain from which you want to create a backup. If you have multiple domains they will appear in the drop-down menu. You have 3 options of Delivery Type: -Web Browser: Download the backup file right on to your local PC -FTP: Puts a copy of the backup file in /FTP ROOT (above the web root) -Remote FTP: Puts a copy at a remote FTP location of your choice. The exact location can be specified by using the "Remote FTP Path" option. Click the "Fetch Backup" button to proceed. *Restore Domain Files: Here you can restore previously made backups to the domain of your choice. You have 3 options of restoring files: -Web Browser: Upload a local copy of the backup file from your computer. Using this method you must click "Click here to upload restore file". Choose the file from your local PC and click the "Restore domain" button to complete the action. -FTP: Choose the backup file to restore from your domain's FTP site. File Name should be /[path to backup.tar.gz] -Remote FTP: Choose the backup file to restore from your remote FTP location. *MySQL Backups: Exactly the same as "Domain Backups" but for MySql Databases. *Restore MySQL: Exactly the same as "Restore Domain Files" but for MySql Databases.

Just tried to backup a windows domain to FTP root. It failed with no apparent place to look for error messages.
Couple of questions... I suppose an FTP root backup doesn't count against bandwidth but the other two options do? Are backups date/timestamped or will they override a previous backup? Looks like it needs to be fired up manually instead of being a scheduled event but specifically when the backup actually runs depends upon queue size, load, etc. ? EDIT: - Minor quibble... "There is no databases to..." should read "There are no databases to..."

Would be nice....
I get failed on all of my attempts also.
If it was working it would be a great tool. Please let us know whats going on and why all of the backups (whether in ftp or web browser mode) fail. |

There seems to be a small bug we found after the release.
Like always everyone leaves us to find all the darn bugs. LoL The system does not seem to like to backup more then one person at a time and will cause our cron to hang. Who would ever think with so many users 2 people might want to back up at the same time. ![]() We opened a ticket with the maker of the program and they should give us some kind of answer with in the next 24 to 48 hours on how to fix that small issue. It's a great option and just one of the few I want to get out to you guys. Would be nice if the reset are bug free.

Quote:
Does this mean that we should not assume backups are happening automatically now? ie Unless my customers do this for themselves, they cannot call me and request a restore? Or does this mean if we ask you to restore, there is a $60 charge per restore? I seem to recall that a restore charge was $10. Or does this mean we can still have the nightly backup service, but this will cost us $60.. per what term... month, year? |

We still do our backups we charge for, but this gives you or your customers a place to make there own backups. This did not change our backups at all. It just added an option for you to be able to make backups easier.

Yep you could back it up from one of our servers to another (if you have more then one account) to do cross backups or you could do a backup to some where else like another server or your home computer.
