Hello there,
I've just signed up and fought my way through setting up and registering my nameservers. Since this seems to be causing much grief to especially newbies, I thought I post up what I did for others to see: Read and follow this tutorial first for steps 1 & 2: http://www.matrixreseller.com/stepbystep/ 1) Set up your admin account and service plan 2) Set up your DNS zone and nameservers (admin account -> e.manager -> server aliases) 3) Go to the registrar who you registered your domain with (i.e. 123-reg) and go to "Change Nameservers" (see their FAQ/Help or the flash tutorials on Vortech/Matrixreseller) 4) Enter all four nameservers you created in your H-Sphere control panel earlier 5) Then your registrar should prompt you for IP addresses in order to create the new nameservers, put in the IPs given in e.manager -> server aliases for your new nameservers 6) If you get errors, make sure your domain is un-locked! Most registrars lock domains automatically by default to prevent hijacking thesedays. 7) Sit back with a nice cup of tea (or other fav' beverage) and wait 24-72 hours for your nameservers to start working. You can check whether it's working by running a whois query on your domain (i.e. whois yourdomain.com) It will show you what nameservers it's running off. Good luck and don't worry, it's not really as hard as it looks ![]() Axel.

I may be misreading your post there but it's a little confusing
With your registrar you want to "register" each of the nameserver aliases you have created, but you do not want to change your service domain to use all 4 of the nameservers, only the 2 that are assigned by the control panel should be loaded as your service domains nameservers. All 4 must be "registered" though so that your customers have the ability to use them, registering nameservers is basically nothing more than creating a series of NS and A records at the TLD Zone that points to your aliases. Many registrars call these Child Nameservers or sometimes also called vanity nameservers. |
