MS PowerPoint to mpeg or flash
Does anyone know of any free or opensource software that will convert a MS PowerPoint slide presentation into a video file such as .mpg or a flash file .swf. It's a one time shot for a client and I hate to purchase the software just for that. Any software/shareware that is fully functional for a few days would do.
Thanks in advance.

A quick google of "powerpoint to swf" and the third hit gets you a page with a bunch of options including:
- OpenOffice will open a powerpoint file and let you save it as a flash file without animation - FlashSpring Lite Googe "powerpoint to mpeg" and the third hit is a forum topic describing DIGG. A little more research and you find DIGG was renamed Microsoft Producer for Powerpoint 2003 (free) from:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Behold the power of Google. |

I tried a few so called free ones but they all had limitations like maimum number of frames/pages ect (need to convert an animation with 278 frames/pages). OpenOffice and FlashSpring Lite won't work because I need animation and syncronized sound. I really prefer to convert to mpeg because I need to reduce the resloution and can do that with my video software. I'll try DIGG. Thanks for the tip.

Although it is not free, I use Camtasia Studio by Techsmith.
www.techsmith.com It is probably the most widely used video tutorial suite used today. Unlike Adobe's Captivate, it can output into many different formats... it can even to several different ones at one time. The best part about Camtasia Studio is that it includes an add-in for Powerpoint to make powerpoint captures quick and easy. Actually the REAL best part of this software is the product support... second to none. Techsmith also makes the best single frame screen capture program "SnagIt". You may even be able us it to capture short videos. I do know that they offer trial versions of their SW, but I am not sure if they restrict the trial in any way. |
