Some questions about sql server allocation
I'm a web developer/hosting reseller and I have my 1st client who needs hosting that can handle an ecommerce site. I've already allocated what I feel to be a safe amount of space & bandwidth but now I need to allocated some sql server space.
The site is basically a small subscription business that is going to need a database to store their clients info and that's basically it so this business won't really need a ton a space. How much is a safe amount of database space to allocate? Thanks -Goalie35 |

Simply put... twice as much as you think.
IF you think 5 meg would be enough, the allocate 10 because of transaction log space. I have s tore with more than 30,000 product records and it is only 5 meg... BUT I have 15 meg allocated just to be sure. The joy of our admin tools is we can always change this allocation should we require it.
