If I may, what causes these chkdisks? Is it a crash/reboot? If so, is the cause known?

Man if you have a server with many people on it or could be any glitch. The thing is it should be ran periodically anyway. Volume, raid issues are likely to make running chkdisk have to occur. Don't want to wait till you have a worse problem. Since you know they do regular reboots if something doesn't let go then it may want to run. Shouldn't take too long tho.

The only issue I've ever had with these unscheduled chkdsk's is that they're unscheduled.
Issuing a simple chkntfs prior to shutdown shows the status of each disk. Can't we get better notification? It seems once a week any more. If you know it's gonna check, delay the reboot a day and let everyone know when it's gonna happen. |
