Pretty sure that model dell is same lcd panel as samsung high end 192T. LG-Philips. Nice LCD...I just wish they could do color better....almost there. Altho when designing for the web color ends up being out of your control pretty much. But it all adds up. Not to mention the prices are way higher than CRT even w/ getting an xtra inch of screen space per equivalent monitor. However, decent CRT's are getting harder to find. Getting a good warranty is very important tho. Monitors don't last like they once did(actually none of it does). Being pushed so hard. LCD's are definitely way cheaper to ship than crt. I have used amex buyer's assurance a couple of times to save me on parts going bad beyond warranty. A scanner that went after a yr. and a nice trinitron based 19" after 3yrs. Can't beat it. They cut me a check for what I paid for them.

The Best quality Monitor I have seen is an AG NEOVO. Popular among tradeshow people. I like them better than the sonys and samsungs I looked at. http://www.neovo-usa.com/products/products.htm
The higher levels not value line which may be fine for what it is. I have a 19"(E-19A). Outstanding color clarity, accuracy. The glass optics on the top create a better image and protect the screen, easier to clean also. The response time is great. You can get the hydraulic arm if you like. I shopped around a long time and everyday I adore this monitor...and I am very picky....

I've been pretty happy with a 19" Philips, colour looks pretty natural and a 12ms response time isn't too shabby .. they're down to about $600NZ here which is $450US or so.

Most of the manufacturers listed are using the nicer LG phillips panels anyway. Response time should be good, but ironically if it is too fast picture quality can suffer. lcd technology is getting better all the way around. I was amazed at how good the color is on my AG monitor, text everything. Great black too. These monitors are the only ones I have seen w/ the optical overlay other than the mac screens, but the macs glare too much. These do not. They are not priced bad either.

Time will tell if it holds up. Has a 3yr warranty. Mine is only 6months old or so. Quality seems excellent. They have a value line w/o the glass that I am told is also good, but for me that glass made all the diff. For some things it creates an almost 3d effect. Playing HL2 was really nice and LOTR on DVD. They have some nicer ones too. AG isn't near as easy to find available tho.

Yesh, I got that dell 20" way back when and now I have twins! ;-)
2 dell 20" lcds, and I'm very happy with them. Haven't had any problems. I have them mounted vertically, and hooked up to my dock for my laptop. For whatever reason my puny dell D600 video card can handle that weird setup. I'm sure your mileage may vary. Windows doesn't not like vertical displays without some third-party software like Pivot.

Dell does have a new 24, but I think it's still a little expensive compared with the 20". You can usually find offers on Dell for about $500-$550 these days.

I wonder how long it will take for the new ultrabrights to move up to the desktop line, as I'm seeing them all over notebooks these days. They look really cool.

If I remember, most of the ati cards, at least 9600 and up have rotational software built in, that appears to work well. I don't really use this setup so couldn't say if there are issues. But when I did check it out it *seemed* to work fine. The AG X series looks very nice(they have a 20" w/ magnesium alloy w/ all the multimedia stuff), but I haven't seen them actually being sold so they must be even harder to find. I hope the backlight on those monitors lasts longer than dell's notebooks. I have seen many go. Buncha compaqs too. That's why I tell everyone for a monitor or laptop especially get a warranty.

Mine has a mobile radeon 9600, but I've not found any way to rotate BOTH monitors using anything but Pivot. Even Pivot has problems, in that I must disable it from loading at startup, else it derotates one of the monitors. There are so many variables with video cards and monitors, I'm just thankful that this partcular combo works with a little tweaking.

I haven't checked this with a dual setup at all anyway. Are both using a digital setup or analog and digital? I know my 9600xt seemed to work well with the rotation, but like I said I didn't really useit. My tablet is really designed to be horizontal and most monitors are so wasn't really suited for me. Dual Monitor anything is always more of a challenge.
