H-Sphere 2.4.1 Patch 4 Upgrade / November 30th

On Tuesday, November 30th, from 9:00PM until 11:00PM, the H-Sphere control panel will be unavailable while we upgrade the CP server itself. The system will not be down the entire time but in small increments, maybe 5 to 10 minutes each.

The CP is getting a software update to H-Sphere 2.4.1 Patch 4 to fix some small issues in H-Sphere at this time.

We will also run a full vacuum on the CP database during this time as well to optimize the database.

The downtime is expected to be approximately one hour total with the time frame.

Note from experience: people should check the permissions on their Windows accounts after this is complete. Long story, but just a good idea to check.

All of them.

My experience was with a domain that was supposed to be auth access only... I found one day that it was not. Fortunately I use that domain often so I found it fast. I have since written an asp script to redirect unauth attempts.

OK, some sites with FP entensions are not opening in FP right now.

May be I have to wait until a confirmation of the completion of the update to be posted here in order to check them thoroughly!

I have the smallest of suggestions regarding these types of announcements. But for many of us, especially those of us outside the US, it really helpful thing. Mark times with some kind of time zone indicator. Without this tiny bit of information I'm completly lost, and really have no idea when the specified timeframe is...

Oh, and personally I'd prefer all times in UTC... ;-)

Is the fact that the "vacuum" is running preventing me from getting into the control panel now? I still cannot get to the control panel page and it's after 11PM EST.

Yes, a vacuum would keep you from getting any where near the CP.

Seems the vacuum always takes 4 times as long as Brad says it will.

From now on, why not just tell us the CP will be down all day, then when it comes back after a few hours, we can have something to celebrate?

Reverse psychology can work wonders

Very true. I'm not a big Star Trek fan, but I seem to remember seeing an episode where Scottie said the ship can go faster than what he tells the captain, just so he can look like a hero when more speed is actually necessary.

The downside in Vortech's case is that if they ever told us the CP would be down for a full day, even if they knew it wouldn't be, most of us would be up in arms. Good ol' catch 22.

I was in and out of it multiple times before and after 11 EST .. I dont think the vacuum will cause a total lockout of the CP usually, it will make the CP rather slow until its completed though. Obviously if the CP's taken offline the vacuum will run a lot quicker but the CP won't be available .. catch 22 really.
