Hello,
I am very confused... When I want to sell a customer a domain with user and password to FTP HIs account? What shall I DO? Give him a Plan? Or Create a New User? How many are allowed!! |

Your allowed an unlimited number. You only however get a certain amount of free control panel logins (accounts) after that you have to pay $4 per control panel login.
It's really up to you whether you host your customers under one control panel login or give them each their own, if your customer will never need anything other than FTP then use subftp (though remember if they want new email addrs setup etc you'll have to do this for them becuase they can't access the CP themselves). |

Hello and Merry Christmas to all. With Windows (with which I seemed to be joined at the hip) I have found it easies to create a new account in H-Sphere to grant full access to a domain. On a couple of accounts, I have not shared the location of the control panel to keep unwanted changes from happening but simply provided login instructions for FrontPage or SiteBuilder... and in one case FTP. One caveat... remove the default.html and login.html page from the folder or your new user will find the control panel and that may raise more question than answers. This is just the quick and easy way I have solved the user management issue. It is problematic in that I have to document the logins and passwords in another location but all in all it it a simple way of keeping my Matrix accounts organized. Like many here... I am waiting for Matrix/Vortech and P-Soft (makers of H-Sphere) to solve the user management issue on Windows accounts. This is a problem shared by most web hosting companies and I know of only one that will allow access (through online UI) to add/remove/modify users to a hosted domain. This one feature costs me well over $100 per month at this other hosting company and frankly... I am not convinced it is worth it.

Subftp's can only be used on the Unix servers for starters. Theres complete documentation available on how to set it up though in the H-sphere guides.

BUT if I am using a WIN SERVER. is there anyway where I can have Sub-FTP accounts, for my clients. Instead of giving them a limited account. Awaiting replies!! |

There are many posts on this throughout the forum. The current version of hsphere does NOT support sub-ftp in windows. We are all waiting for the release that does but for now no.
