7/30/2003 NT to NT17 issue

There is a problem with the NT servers NT to NT17 there is a tech at the DC checking on the issue now. We are not sure if it happens to be one of the new switchs just having an issue or something on the servers. We should know more with in the next 5 to 10 min.

Should be fully fixed now it seems the switch failed so we will make a time to replace this switch ASAP.

So much for buying Cisco switches - next time, you may as well go to Radio Shack

LoL it seems that way. I have never had this many issues with cisco..

We have HP4000M switchs as well they seem to be good as well but they are like 3 or 4U big not the 1U like the cisco.

But we will get it fixed I have a stack of new cisco switchs, APCs and servers here.. So its all good..

Ventalation problem possibly ? the 1U's do actually need a little bit more breathing room than the larger ones normally.

No. The switches are mounted at the top of the cabinets and have ample breathing space. The ambient temperature is lower than it ever was before we moved. This switch just decided it was time to go on strike.

*drools over the idea of an HP in every cabinet* but buying a whole set of those may be incompatible with me getting a pay cheque. Those buggers cost an arm, a leg and several other body parts.

Those little switches are much nicer than the big ones IMHO... Why do we need a switch that it expandable and can have 10x as many connections as servers can fit in the cabinet? Besides, thats one more server we can fit with the smaller switch
