Can we have nameserver aliases

I have a major problem. We use several domain registrars and some won't let me register a name server unless the tld of the name server is registered with the registrar. Since H-Spere assigns my name server names, if I can't add nameservers or aliases, I will have to transfer all my domains to one registrar. Is there a way to create an alias like ns2.alias.com and have it forwarded to my admin account name server, ns3.mynameserverassignedbyH-phere.com.

Your description sounds a little confusing to me. Are you saying these registrars need to have your name servers listed w/ them or registered? You do have your name servers setup as ns.yourservicedomain.com, right? I don' think you can alias in a way that the reg will accept. I would say stop using them. Places that force things like that scare me. You have to be very careful of registrars, I see people lose domains often. Having a technical reason is one thing, but still not acceptable to me.

Well, I thought ENOM.COM and Register.Com were good ones. But if you want to register a name server on their server then the doamin must also be registered their.

I'm a little lost as to what your trying to achieve.

Your nameservers only need to be registered with one registrar, this would usually always be the same one that you have the domain registered with.

I'm not sure what you mean about HSphere assigning you nameservers, you create them as part of your setup and they're based on your service domain name.

You should have nsx.yourdomain.com aliases in you cp under e.manager-server aliases. Then as Brangwyn said that domain is registered w/ a registrar and child nameservers setup. There should be no need to do this at other regs just put in the nameserver info under the reg's domain. Make sure you know what correct ns to put there because hsphere will assign it. For example ns and ns1 are not being used on new domains, they still need to be setup as child nameservers of your service domain tho. See?

REG1------------------------------REG2

svcdomain.com
|___ ns.svcdomain.com <------ customer domain

First of all the domain in question is williambarberinc.com. If you type that url in your browser it goes somewhere I never seen before - not the normal contol panel. The name servers for my service aacount, alltech-computers.com, were registered years ago at register/namebargain.com. The domain in question williambarberinc.com is registered at ENOM. ENOM won't let me register a name server for my service domain because the domain is registered at register/namebargain.com.

Are you saying that if i register a domain name at one registrar I don't have to register it ever again at another registrar?

Yes...you can't this would create total CHAOS. You can transfer it. If your domain is going wierd places...most likely it is setup wrong.

Your nameservers appear to be messed up. williambarberinc.com is going to the control panel default. It shows ns2 and ns3 alltech-computers.com. Then alltech-computers.com shows only ns and ns1 so your domain(williambarberinc.com) is not going to resolve.

This domain williambarberinc.com shows up fine off network: http://www.anonymization.net/http://...mbarberinc.com

Now williambarberinc.com should have these nameservers:

ns2.alltech-computers.com -> 216.157.129.251
ns3.alltech-computers.com -> 216.157.131.129

Which it does and alltech-computers.com has:

ns1.alltech-computers.com -> 65.57.231.120
ns.alltech-computers.com -> 65.57.231.100

Which is also correct? I don't see a problem here?

I don't see the problem either. When I ping it it goes to vortech. I have deleted the account in question and added it back and it still doesn't work. I've never had this problem before. Any ideas?

Have to read original post..alittle confusing. But see this.
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsre...-computers.com

FAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. The following nameserver(s) are listed (at your nameservers) as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the the parent nameservers (therefore, they may or may not get used, depending on whether your DNS servers return them in the authority section for other requests, per RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly.

ns1.hsphere.cc.ns.hsphere.cc.
This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
FAIL Missing nameservers 2 ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers. The problem NS records are:
ns.alltech-computers.com.
ns1.alltech-computers.com.

Do you have child nameservers ns-ns3 listed at the reg w/ alltech-computers?

P.S. - this is wrong

Your NS records at your nameservers are:

ns1.hsphere.cc. [TTL=86400]
ns.hsphere.cc. [TTL=86400]

Hey Big Dave,

Do you mean you are fixing the problem for me? If so, I owe you a big one. I have other accounts that use the same name servers and I have no problem with them. I may have to chalk it up to a "glich" since I don't know what happened!

Thanks

yes, and they work fine for my other accounts.
