5/20/2003 NEW Mail and SQL servers

Just a quick note to let everyone know we have ordered 3 new machines for Mail, MySQL and MSSQL.

All 3 should be installed by the end of the week or Monday at the latest.

Also NT21 and NT22 are in the shop now being put together and will be stress tested tomorrow so hope to have them in this week as well.

The new msSQL server with be running windows 2003 .net with msSQL 2000. This will give us a little time to see how stable 2003 really is going to be before putting it out for web servers.

I have been experiencing problems with my accounts this week which use MySQL databases. I have also at times not been able to get to the control panels. I am mostly a developer and generally do most of my development locally so I don't really know how good or bad the servers are performing. Is it possible that the new machines have caused problems this week or do I somehow manage to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I haven't seen to much bad rap on Matrix this week so my problems may be somewhere between Matrix and myself.

Have the servers been a little off this week? I have another host who had 100% uptime last year but they don't offer much of a package - don't offer anything, nothing to break! I like Matrix because of the great features and don't mind a few inconvieniences now and then. I'm not complaining - just wondering if there have been some problems this week.

michealb (tech) did a post before re mysql and unix 7, and theres another today re mysql being overloaded by a client, they're both recent.
I've had no probs with mysql myself ever.

just to confirm ixie02, mysql1/unix4 as fast as ever.
thats the only machines i can vouch for though.
