We are sending customers an email regarding a new ICANN-enforced domain name transfer policy, effective 11-12-04. It dictates that IF WE RECEIVE A TRANSFER REQUEST (and your domain names are not locked) we must honor the transfer, even if you do not confirm it. You can eliminate ANY chance of your domain names being transferred away without your permission by locking your domains.

it's announce by godaddy and it's look dangerous , anybody every try to transfer famous domain from registrar ? i'm going to try to transfer maybe got luck to get famous domain and sell to them in higher price ?

They have a name for that Peter, I believe its called fraud .. your more likely to get yourself sued if you try

ha ha so if we try not very famous like cambodia domain name maybe they can't sue ?

Most famous domains will be protected by trademark.

Goddady send me the same Email and I think it was about time ICANN did something about it, you can't have domain resellers for what ever reason holding peoples domains locked hopping to make few extra bucks. I for one had an experience and few others that I know off So THANK you ICANN.

I have had trouble in transferring a client's domain from totalNIC (now pacnames.com) for about two years now. Its a long story and long procedures (including sending type written documents by ordinary post. But, they did NOT allowed to transfer at all.
Now I hope this policy will help my client transferring the domain. I have already initiated the transfer and its not yet done (three days now). Godaddy asks to wait for 5 to 7 business days.

Hope this new policy will help in transfering this domain.
