11/20/2003: NT26 & NT27 Move

NT26 and NT27 will be moved back to Windows 2000 machines on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at approximately 10PM EST. The maintainence window is estimated to be 4 hours per machine. NT26 will be done first, then NT27. We anticipate no data loss, but be sure to have a backup copy of any sites you have on those machines. If you encounter any problems after the reinstall, be sure to submit a ticket to support@vortechhosting.com describing the issue in detail.

Does this move also means that Windows 2003 is not suitable for any serious hosting business?

I greatly appreciate the notice and allowance for input on this issue and further appreciate Matrix's support!

I have experienced a hard drive failure on one other server a great time ago and they recovered my site with no issues! Which I thought was GREAT!

So, my question is (to Matrix), will the reinstall of the OS be almost the same as that experience? I am not familiar with the technical aspects of HSphere but am very familiar with all the applications HSphere makes use of (IE, IIS, SQL, LINUX, MYSQL, etc) that is why I am asking. Will all settings for the domains remain? Everything from ODBC (for the benefit of those who use it), web services (asp, .net, cgi, php), default indexes, and the like that is controlled from hsphere?

I mainly ask because I have a customer that is only on these two servers. They are pretty technical too and can appreciate you (us) are wanting to make sytems more stable and reliable but do have some concerns about ther change if something does go bad and their site is down for an extended period of time.

Thanks for your feedback.

TCP
