installing additional COMS

I would like to know about how to order a new COM to be installed. It's a free one that a new customer wants.

http://www.screen-scraper.com/urlfetch/doc.shtml

I sent a ticket but got no reply, and its urgent..

does ti cost money to install it?

i don't want it installed yet, just that you will do it, and the cost involved when i order it..

regards

johnny

I understand there is normally a $25 charge to have com objects installed.

I've just had a quick look at that object and I don't see anything immediately that you can't just do with the MS XMLHttp object and a bit of your own code, or a combination of that and some existing COM objects Vortech have installed.

Yes there is a $25 for installed DLL/Com objects, even if they are free.

Also, I don't see anything to fancy in that, there are a number of objects that will do the same exact thing, you might check the server you are on for installed coms and see if an even better one is already installed.

It's not for me, a customer has a client who wants it, so i just do it, i don't really care

thanks, but i still want matrix support to tell me specifically that they will do it, otherwise i don't want to risk telling the client that i will do it for them.

regards

johnny

Brangwyn, the whole point of that Com i think, is not to have to use your own code and 'some' existing ones, it does it all for you! it makes life easier ..

kattouf, one of the easiest ways to do it, is to have the customer upload the COM to a folder in their webspace, and then send in a TT with the server name, location of file, and such, then it will be reviewed (include a link to the website for the COM) and instaled for $25, hope that helps out.

Yeah I realise that, but why trust someone else's code when you can do it yourself, and possibly even do a better job of it? I don't trust "free" COM objects as a general rule to be of great quality, the fact that one's written in Java scares me a little right off the bat.

My concern exactly, I notice they try and debunk the "slowness" on the website but don't really offer any benchmarks to prove it, just a "try it and see for yourself" style comment.
