Matrix Plan
I seen the matrix plan which is 6gigs of storage, 800mb of mysql, MsSQL, and postgre sql (never use postgre)... Anyway the plan is $200 dollars but only gives 200gigs of transfer... Zion is $100 dollars (I've been on Zion for six months but full) it is 3000mb of storage, 400mb mysql, MsSQL and postgre... and 100 gigs of transfer...
Can you guys make the matrix plan have 200 gigs of transfer? It seems more than fair since it is double the price of Zion. If this was 200gigs I would upgrade today to this plan... or I am going to have to get my own box... Can the powers that be take a look at this? Thank you Mark |

Could someone point me to where I can see the specs for these bigger plans?
We primarily develop in Cold Fusion and I'd love to see an account option that provides extra CF. We are about to switch to Zion, but I could honestly see us needing another Zion account in the next six months. I'd much rather consolidate than have multipe reseller accounts. |

Thanks a bunch. Since CF is $10 per account, it doesn't make much sense to upgrade to the Matrix account until we close in on 20, but good to know it's there.

I wouldn't mind seeing a plan without CF altogether (in the last 12 months I don't think I've had more than 1 customer even query whether we could provide CF Hosting or not) actually, a really cut down plan without too many free H-Sphere licenses (the $4 is nothing to pay per customer) more disk, traffics about right on most plans now, but whos gonna complain about more, drop the pgSQL completely as well etc. Basically just something with the basics but pleanty of disk space or even the existing disk space allocations but summary based instead of allocation.

I can definitely understand. If you are strictly looking for hosting, the biggest issues are going to be bandwidth and disk space. Since everyone we host is a client we have developed, we can control things like disk space, but you can't get by without Cold Fusion if your whole content management system is built in it. ![]() |

Guys, I have the same needs...Right now, I have multiple plans.
ServInt is offering $3/GB for disk space and those guys are usually on the high side and top notch. (No windows though). Matrix is top notch, just wish they would help us out with some newer and better plans. |

The biggest issue as it stands is that the upgrade path is not linear, I have no doubt that this is causing people to look elsewhere to meet some of their needs rather than being able to stick 100% of their business with Vortech, so in effect vortech are loosing business and will only loose more in the long run without a rethink, and I'm not saying a drastic rethink is required either just some consitency in the plans and a bit more of a range of plans is all thats required. |

Well 10 - 15 plans might be a little much but I will see what Craig and I can come up with tomorrow for you guys. I have been doing some thinking but not 10 to 15 plans worth of thinking..

I thought that many plans might be tough to handle as well. Billing could be nightmarish.
I would think something that has specialties would be great - CF, High Bandwidth, High Disk Usage - those types of things. Maybe you need 30 CF accounts but not a ton of bandwidth. Maybe you need a TON of disk space but not CF. Just a thought. Thanks for looking into it, Brad! |

The balanced linear progression of the plans definetly is important. I don't think the more you sell that your cost per resource should keep going up in such a non-proportional way.
Coldfusion is got plenty of strengths, but it is expensive. The Reload ends up being $5.00 a license, but that would only be til you hit your limit. That is a huge tradeoff tho when disk and transfer cost are .10mb/3.00 gb under that plan. The db numbers are high too. .30mb for mssql and .75mb for the other 2. It is just better to plan for $10 a domain if you are going Coldfusion(IMO). Altho , I wonder if that doesn't keep it from being used more. Which in the end would mean more dollars. (More of a psychological/marketing thing). ![]()

How I came up with 10-15 plans is along these lines, you have 6 basic plans now which you could keep once they've been restructured and then introduce a "light" version of each plan
e.g a Zion plan with no free CF, No free IP's no Free H-Sphere licenses I would imaging cutting out those things should allow you to offer the same amount of disk and traffic at a lower monthly price for those who don't need the features thown into the base plan, if they need them at any stage they just pay for them as overages so theres still flexibility in the "lite" plan. Alternatively the lite plan could instead of being cheaper have more disk/traffic included to offset the cost you should save by not bundling CF/H-Sphere licenses and free IP's into the plan. Just talking out loud anyway Certainly appreciate you & Craig having a think about things anyway. |
