Vortech Network Router Announcement

On 5/7/2005 between 12:01am ET and 12:30am ET we will be upgrading our router connection from copper gige to fiber. This should only cause a brief downtime during the switch over but we would like to allow 5 - 10 minutes of network downtime as we switch the ports over to be fiber from the router to our core switch, we are allowing 30 minutes just incase run into an issue along the way.

Once the router is done we will be upgrading 2 of our racks to new cisco switchs with gige links back to our core switch. This should also help speed things up and cut latency by a few millisecond.

This upgrade will allow Vortech to handle the occasional DDoS & ARP attacks that our customers under go from time to time without them affecting other clients on the network as much. This is one more step on our road to provide the most stable and redundant network possible.

On a side note: Brad, do you know how things are going with the trans-atlantic (Australian) link / switches / carriers?

Still can't get ahold of reach, we have emails in to 4 of there peering people and they never answer us. That was our main reason for going down there. We would be putting 15 to 20 mb over there on that line if they would email us back and it would cut the ping times WAY down. I hope they get back to us soon. I think james got another peer up now but still not the one over to Australian since every thing gets thee via reach.

This will be starting in the next 10 to 15 min, james got pulled over on the way to the DC. LoL

All done and seams to be very happy. Lowered internal latency but 1 to 3 MS on most internal links.
