Payment Issues
I am currently using a PayPal/2Checkout form of web payment for hosting. Unfortunately, this has lead to problems from clients not paying and basically stiffing me for a lot of bills.
Customers see the billing link in their email and procrastinate or downright plan to milk my hosting for as long as they can before they are forced to pay. There has to be a better way... I'm seeking a much more streamline, automatic, way of charging clients. I have done a lot of research into merchant gateways like Authorize.net, but am unsure as to whether getting a merchant account like this would alleviate this hassle. I'm sure someone else out there has had more experience than I do at this. Would you please advise me as to where to turn? Mark |

well with authorize.net merchant account your clients would be automatically billed every month, no link to hit, no payments to miss. you get your money nless they allow their cards to expire.
highly recommend it. most popular among the users here are payquake and eonline data. I have clients using both without complaints, I myself use payquake. I recommend payquake if you process under $750 a month and eonlinedata if you process over $750 a month. ($750) is about the break even point for fees vs. rate between the two.

Hey Mark,
I tell you what, I was quite surprised, but each and every time I've switch one of my sites over to a credit card from PayPal, in my case authorize.net gateway, sales have increased dramatically. I get the feeling people feel "better" about buying from someone who "seems" responsible enough to deal with credit cards rather than PayPal. For instance, in one online store I operate I made the switch in late December . . . the store has run for 2 years. My sales this year so far exceeded last year altogether. I get maybe 2 or 3 PayPal or check orders a month, the balance is credit cards. I found this also to be true when I switched my hsphere plans over about a year ago. I used PayQuake (through Trace of course) for about 9 months, but found my sales were such that e-onlinedata's plan cost me less. I can give you a link, but honestly Vortech's got a link somewhere that is a better deal than I can get you. I hope that helps

I knew there had to be a better way than PayPal or even any web payment gateway. I did not know there was so many reliable alternatives either, that is, until I started investigating.
I've been in the web design game for about 10 years, but web hosting has added significantly to my turnover ratio. PayQuake may be my temporary answer, but long term, I will probably opt for something like e-onlinedata. For the present, I'm looking for a minimum cost solution. How much is e-onlinedata anyway? Thanks to all! Mark |

Hey Mark,
I think your plan is good . . . start off with PayQuake and once sales justify you can move to a cheaper alternative. Please use the link Trace has in his signature for PayQuake, doesn't cost you a thing . . . and helps a great asset to our community out. Vortech's link to e-onlinedata is https://www.e-onlinedata.com/vortech Best of luck.

mark I think payquake began charging a monthly fee april 15th, I am still trying to confirm this, but if they did, then they might not be your best choice over eonline data.

payquake's pay4play didn't show a monthly fee unless you mean the gateway fee, that is 9.95. Still puts them close if there is no gateway fee for eonline. That would mean the minimum was the only issue. Vortech didn't mention a gateway fee for e-online? Is it not required?

There's a 10.00 per month gateway fee with eonline according to their website.

If you just click the Merchant Gateway link in your CP theres Vortech's add for the e-onlinedata account right at the top of the page. It's basically a branded affiliate page I've seen several places offering the same deals lately.

I think that was clear. I was trying to figure out if the gateway fee was additional. Their description says it is included and they don't list another fee. The web site said gateway fee. Was wondering since a common gateway may be used if this might be waived.
