There is about 400 or so sites on CF so there is also about 350-400 DSN's on the server.
I just got off the phone with MM, they have no idea whats wrong or how to fix it. So here is what we are going to do. We are going to take the old neo file that stopped working and again add them 5 by 5 untill we find 5 that make CF stop working. This will take some time but this will get everyones DSNs working again tonight. That had DSN's today. Please make no changes to your ODBC/DSN setting tonight. We will be removing the CF DSN option from the control panel and going back to our old way of doing them and adding them by hand. I have a bad felling that H-Sphere could be casueing the issue some how. So we will remove it from the loop all together. I would rather see CF stable and customer just have to submit a ticket for there CF DSN's then CF being down all the time due to something in the neo file. Now if this happens after we take H-Sphere out of the loop we will be at a loss and MM will not be able to help, of course because the file will be the same as it is now, not working and no easy way to fix it besides pasting 5 DSN's and restarting CF to see if those 5 DSN's work. I will post an update as soon as I can, but trust me we are working on this issue as fast as we can.

Taking the option out of the control panel is a good idea. Things were working OK until that was added. Hope it works...

I don't have a problem submitting a request for a DSN.
400 sites really isn't that many... except when you have to hand enter everything. Dealing with invisible problems really suck - especially when the company who is supposed to provide assistance (Macromedia) doesn't have the foggiest idea what's happening. It's gonna be a long night... |

Ditto here. We're fortunate in that most of our clients have been MOSTLY patient, but if things aren't working by tomorrow, oh boy. ![]() |

I agree with everyone about the dbs by hand. Its common knowledge that Macromedia doesn't officialy support the use of the ODBC socket, and *HIGHLY* recommends customers use native JDBC drivers. I liked the old system... it at least worked. But 400 sites on one CF server ?!?!?!?!!? I'd say 50-100 hundred at the most for optimal preformance

Ok the CF DSN option is gone out of the CP. You also do NOT even need a ODBC in CFMX it seems only a CF DSN is needed. So, we deleted all of the MSsql system ODBC & we are about 30 mins away from having all the CF DSN re-enetered all by hand. If your DSN is not working email support this info:
DSN NAME= DATABASE= DATABASE-USER= DATABASE-PASSWORD= SQL SERVER= As everyone already knows we do not support MS access on the CF system, so the only thing we will add is MSSQL, MySQL as thats all CF supports or we will support. Everything will now be put in by hand and we will be sending an email out here in a bit to everyone about this and what we need to just readd the DSN back to CF for you if it's not already there. So there is no need to even add ODBC's for CF accounts, we might even remove the files from the server that adds the system ODBC's just to be safe.

For the first time in 3 days, my client's site appears to be totally stable.
