Stupid question about reselling

I had a stupid question about reselling.

Is each domain actually it's own? I realize they are stored on the same server but does each domain actually have it's own ftp, website, email, etc?

Or do the domains just point to folders on 1 single domain? Such as www.domain2.com points to www.domain.com/domain2 ?

Seems like a stupid question but I've never worked with a reseller account before.

they each have their own ftp/website/email etc

And only domains within a single account are on the same server, different accounts will most likely be on different servers.
