Real Time Site Monitoring Software

Anyone ever heard of a program called WhosOn by Parkersoft?
http://www.whoson.com/

Sort of pricey but sounds good. Only thing is you have to install it locally unless you have your own server.

After having a couple of sites get hacked a few times last month I'm paranoid.

Only free programs I have seen with real time monitoring are for PHPNUKE which was the problem in the first place. They do seem to work though.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey atlantic2,

I don't have personal experience with the following, but I am aware of the following.

Load professional, found at http://www.load.com/loadstats/professional/tech.lqm.
starts at 9.95 a month. Done through JavaScript. Real time.

Phplive. Found at phplivesupport.com. starts at a hundred dollars. Very common among hosts. Supposed to cause lite load on the server. They have a hosted version as well. This is a live support app, but you can use it just to monitor your site.

helpcenterlive.com . Another live support app that allows you to monitor your visitors. The is free- opensource software. I have heard reports of buggy chat sessions, but shouldn't be an issue if you only use it for monitoring.

There are numerous other products out there as well.

Hope that helps.

Just a question? What specific features about who is online will really help with hacking? Your logs should show this, however, that want stop the hacker. If you have holes you need to find where. Usually, a major software hole in a lang or app you are using or bad password/username management. I would look at encryption and passwords/first. Cause the only other way really is thru the actual server which is a major issue for vortech, still most likely username/pass issue. I had that happen to me once. The whole server I was on got hacked(not here). Mainly because they did not enforce password or encryption, even tho I used encryption, others didn't.

I all ready know who and how they got in and plugged the holes at least for now, and realize this is a price you have to pay for using PHPNUKE. I also know that if somebody really, and I mean really wants in and knows what they are doing, they are going to get in one way or another Nuke or no Nuke.

I have been running webalizer which is good but it’s usually a day late unless I’m missing something.

I guess because a couple of these sites are monitored very regular by its users, I thought it may be nice for them to know when the Brazilian Kiddies come to play as well as for them to know how many legitimate users are on their site too. Also kind of like to offer my customers a little bit extra for doing business with me.

Yeah Nuke has/had holes. Well realtime logs are handy. At least you know how they got in.
