@mail wont delete

I have been advised by a client that @mail will not delete a message when you use the big red "X" to delete it. It just stays in the in box.

I advised my client to use the move to trash until this is resolved.

Anyone else experience similar or know of a setting to fix?

Isn't the big red X button the empty trash button? didn't think there was a "Delete" button in @mail anyway (though to be honest I hardly use webamil at all)

I hardly use it either, but I don't think the red x does do anything. Move to trash should. Then you can change trash settings to empty when exiting etc... Also remember it depends on what interface they are using...simple etc...

when you click the red "x" it asks you if your sure you want to delete the message, then it does not delete it so something is definitely not working.

Yeh, it's a Webmail bug. We've informed them of the bug, but they haven't fixed it yet. Until then, you have to use the "move" feature. You can either move it to trash can or "Erase Selected" - again, depending on which interface you use.

What interface? The scripting functioning correctly is largely dependant on browser.(another fun issue to explain to people about browsers) I don't remember the X ever working tho.

Using simple interface IE 5.5
I am getting this error often when using X(this seems new tho):
Software Configuration Error
The error message follows: at /usr/local/atmail/www/libs/Atmail/SQL.pm line 113.

I also end up in a function screen (http://webmail.domain.com/util.pl?fu...o&delete=Trash)
while I am in the trash folder. The function screen looks useless for deleting trash.

The button is to "Emtpy Trash" ... when you click on the button it says "Are you sure you want to Delete all Messages in the trash folder", it doesnt ask you if you want to delete the "message".... at least just checking now on the advanced interface thats what I saw.

I don't see any mention anywhere in the docs, or tooltips that says that button is supposed to delete selected mail from the *inbox*.

Now the real bug is that when you do actually click on it after having moved your emails to the trash, it doesn't actually empty the trash folder like its supposed to.

I thought one of the interfaces didn't offer "Erase Selected" - I haven't double checked though, but that's what I meant.

I don't think the delete button works for any of them, no matter which browser you use. And it is something that we have reported to @Mail to fix.

That's right it is supposed to delete trash. The javascript function show this. It has never worked in any interface tho...as long as it has been here. The erase selected is available in Simple, tho Carly just not sure if it works.

Thanks Carly, I have passed it on to my client.

OK here are the clarifications....I am using IE6

Advanced interfcce:
The red "X" in the top button bar - click it and get a popup
"Delete the message you are reading"
click YES, but it does not delete the message

Professional Interface:
[NO red "X", just a delete button]
click the delete button and you get a popup
"Delete the message you are reading"
click YES, but it does not delete the message

Simple Interface:
[NO red "X", just a delete button]
click the delete button and you get a popup
"Delete the message you are reading"
click YES, but it does not delete the message

I was in simple interface and I got the empty trash message Brangwyn stated.(do not remember verbatim). It did not say to delete the message you are reading tho. I was in folder view. Maybe you were in reading view for the message. Either way..I think we can all agree the BIG RED X does NOT and Never has worked as stated. Avoid the "Big Red X at all cost!"

P.S. Did the x get disabled because I checked it out w/ firebird and it showed no function at all...just an icon in simple view. If so..probably a good idea since it doesn't work. Be nice to remove it completely. They really need templates.
