Rename account

Is it possible to assign a new domain name to an existing account?

2. Question: Is it possible to re-build the cp-folder after it was deleted?

Don't ask why I need to know..... just tell me it's possible

Thanks

Assuming HSphere here

1) Nope once you've created the reseller account with the domain the only way to change is delete the account and start afresh.

2) Just copy the cp-folder from any other domain they're all identical basically.

Thanks, Brangwyn. I did not mean to rename the reseller account but just a regular customer account. Is that possible?

2) I tried to copy an existing cp folder but I got "permission denied". Creating one first got the same result.

Same thing with a customer account, theres no way to rename them have to delete them and create them again.

How are you trying to "copy" the CP folder? .. just use FTP is probably easiest, FTP a copy of a CP folder down locally, then upload it back to the domain you need it on.

1) You can ADD a domain to an account, not change it though, just go to Domain Settings and use the "Add Domain" button

2) I believe you would have to turn Web Service off and on.. backup your content

The account in question has subaccounts. I backed up all the content but will really everything be deleted when I turn webservice off and on again? Will I need to re-create all accounts?

You may also want to contact VT about moving the email within the accounts. I believe they will do it for a nominal fee per account.

Thank you for your reply. It was actually much easier than I thought. I missed the point that the control panel in universal and that you don't need the CP folder in the domain. (I sent a TT and learned about that).

I just made a new sub account with the real domain name and she can access the control panel with http://cp.myservicedomain.com:8080

Web Service is per-domain, not a per-account thing. Also, mail and web are independent of each other for a particular domain, so if u turn off web service, it only affects the website of that domain. When you turn it back on, its on the same machine as before, it just kinda resets everything...

remember you can always create a new account w/ domain and wait for ip propagation then delete the old. I think understanding your particular issue would help in making suggestions. TT was def right thing to do. Glad you got it solved. Hsphere being a cluster definitely takes awhile to get accustomed to if you have been using other things.
