03/17/2004: MySQL Upgrade
MySQL on HSphere will be upgraded to 4.0.18 this Wednesday, March 17th, 2004. The upgrade will take place in the evening, around 8pm EST. Downtime for the MySQL servers may be up to one hour, but we will do all we can to make the downtime minimal.
This is a major version increase from 3.x->4.x so we highly suggest you ensure that your script is compatible (It should be) and that you have a backup of your database. ** I believe the announcement that went out said March 18th, but it is Wednesday, March 17th ** |

Can anyone verify that OsCommerce 2.2 MS1 will continue to function after the upgrade? I've searched the OSC forums, but haven't had any luck. Was hoping someone here more knowledgeable with MySQL could provide some peace of mind. Many thanks!

Will you be drinking Vixens Green Vodka during the upgrade?

OsCommerce will still work. I really doubt anything will break as MySQL4 is backwards compatible with MySQL3 provided you are using it properly

I have a PHP script that ran using a CRON job. This script had contained a command to create a TEMPORARY TABLE in my MySQL database (using MyISAM tables). Since the upgrade, the script was no longer able to create TEMPORARY TABLES.
In my case, I was able to create a simple work-around by creating a regular table and then at the end of the script adding a command to drop that table. Just FYI. |

MySQL 5.0
When will Vortech be moving to MySQL 5 or whatever the new version is that allows for stored procedures in MySQL?

MySQL 4.0 -- Production release (recommended)
MySQL 4.1 -- Alpha release (use this for new development) MySQL 5.0 -- Development tree (use this for previewing and testing new features) 5.0 is a long was away. We only use Production release if we can.
