Monitoriing my sites?

For those of you out there with a substancial amount of sites, I was curious to know if any of you have found a decent monitoring program to record the uptime of your sites and acuratly display when certain servers are up and down. While I like the ipMonitor, I would like to record the information myself to know exactly how frequently a site is up, or unfortunatly down, for my records.

I see a few of you have some status monitors on yor site, but obviously that doesn't help when the site goes down. Anyone willing to share a suggestion??

many of us just xmlhttp vortech's status monitor for our clients. If I need to calculate downtime I just use the reports on ipmonitor

I'm with gadgetgal, if its just for yourself then why not just use Vortech status monitor, no need for any xmlhttp scripts unless your wanting something for customers to use as well.

http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/ - If your not a linux guy you might really like the windows version of this one. It can sms, page, post to an ftp account or even publish its own webpage.

I figure it will cost me more to buy the programs than I would ever get back in credits.

net saint is free - its open source and servers alive is free to use for no more than 10 servers... if you want to check more than that you need to pay for it.

I want to monitor all my sites including my clients. So I'll probably use the netsaint. Thanks for the replies thus far!
