Server Status...

About a year ago there was a topic on how to show on your own web site if a server was up or down. There was a very simply way of doing it using two images. If the server was up it would be one image and if it was down it would be another image. However I can not remember how to do this and I have since lost my copy of the code... Does anyone remember this?

That is a good link... but this was way before then... and it had very simple code NO XML feed or anything... It just some how looked at the server if it came back it would show one image and if it did not come back it would show another image.

Ok, but what servers are my sites on?

Sorry, basic question - but how do I see whether www.mydomain.com is on nt11, nt26, etc?

Cheers,
Rob the Nubee

if you do not have the email with the info and it is a shared ip

login to the account in question
click Domain Settings in the left menu
This puts you at the Domain Info screen
you will see the shared ip address next to the domain name

Now login to your reseller account
click emanager
this brings you to the dns manager screen
click edit for the domain in question
you will see the Built-in DNS records for reseller`s server aliases
look for your ip in the right column
when you find it the server name is in the left column

If itmis a dedicated ip you can lookit up by the the instant alias.
Login to the account in question and go to domain settings and click edit for the domain.
Under Web Service click edit, then scroll to the bottom and the Instant access domain alias is listed. Something like d32145.m56.yourservicedomain.com.
Login to your reseller account. go to emanager/dns manager click edit
Then for Instant aliases for DNS zone yourservicedomain.com click edit
slide down to m56.yourservicedomain.com and see the ip address
for m56(216.157.142.2)
click dns manager
click edit
look in the list of Built-in DNS records for reseller`s server aliases for the ip (216.157.142.2) you found next to m56.yourservicedomain.com
matches the ip (216.157.142.2) next to unix6 Built-in DNS records for reseller`s server aliases

Thanks,
I had a feeling it would be click here run over here look up this etc. I figured there must have been an easier way - some screen/service I hadn't found yet. But alas no. I shall click around my 20 sec per response CP until I scream

Cheers,
Rob.

i keep an updated spreadsheet with server aliases, instant aliases, and ip. That way after I know the ip or instant alias for a domain, i can just look on the spreadsheet

ditto, I find it much easier to manage this way, especially with multiple vortech accounts as well.

When I'm in a hurry I just put a subdomain that doesn't exist and I get the blank page with the name of the server (i.e. http://qqq.integraitalia.com shows up NT6).
