Okay, I love it, but...........
From a user and usability perspective would it be possible to remove the 'mailserver' option. This field could be dynamically determined by prefixing the specified email domain (after the @ sign) with the text 'mail.'. With the current setup my customers (and me if I'm on the road) have to type in their domain name 2 times. For example if I logon with the user: user@acme.com, I also have to specify the mailserver: mail.acme.com. Thanks. |

Its not going to work because mail and the domain are not on the same system. IE mail.vortechhosting.com and vortechhosting.com are not the same system. Thats why in H-Sphere you have to have that option..

Cookie
Hey Admin,
I've suggested it before and I'll try one more time. If we can't eliminate so much typing to login than can you have them put in a cookie element and a box that says "remember my settings" so people can have everything except the password prefilled in for them once they've logged in successfully. I don't think I'm the only one who would be extremely happy. Thanks so much for all you do. Chris |

actually I'd think with some minor code changes the logon could be made to just automatically try and authenticate against mail and then mail1 and then fail if neither work. that would allow the box to removed altogether which may be a good idea as right now I can use your webmail to access any account that lets me regardless of whether its on your system or not, for instance I just used your webmail to check my ISP mail account, do you really want people sucking up your bandwidth accessing mailservers other than your own ? |

Can some one give me a list of ideas all in one post here..
![]() I will see if atmail can make some changes like that to make it work better for us. But just need to know how it would work best for all of you..

Ideas:
1) Pull the domain name from the address bar and input it in the mailserver slot. 2) Pull the info from the acctual e-mail address. The user inputs "me@THISDOMAIN.com" into the first box. Then the mailserver box would look at the e-mail address and pull everything after the @ symbol and prepend "MAIL." to effectivly create "MAIL.THISDOMAIN.com". It was also suggested that if MAIL.THISDOMAIN.com doesn't work that it automatically try MAIL1.THISDOMAIN.com in the case of a service domain. 3) Have a "Remember me" box. I think this is a great idea and we should have it in combination with one of the methods above. This could remeber the users e-mail address so they don't have to type it in all the time, we would also need a "Forget me" button for security. I hope this helps ![]() |

I concur with resellme's scenarios.
The only thing I'll add is that if for technical reasons the looking for mail.mydomain.com then mail1.mydomain.com is complicated, I would only do the mail.mydomain.com prefill based on the email address. Those who are on the mail1 server are typically more technically savy than their customers. I don't mind changing it manually myself. I'd rather do that than answer a bunch of tickets from customers. I may be wrong, but I believe the "Simple Login" feature that has been removed from your version of @mail did go looking directly at the mail.mydomain.com server based on the email. |

clonard, actaully all new addresses are on the mail1 server now, it is just that mail.theirdomain.com is routed to mail1 with DNS, where this cant safely be done with the service domain, so you have to put mail1 manually.
The simple login did not work at all for me, just FYI. |

"Simple Login" will only work for mail servers on the same server as the "A" record thats the web server.. It could not add mail.domain.com as it would not work..

I think the suggestions list sound good, however I assume that SSL Login ability will be added correct? Unless, I am missing something I can't login via SSL. Also, I agree w/ Brangwyn about the ability to check mail anywhere. Seems like it might be a security risk as well.

1) Pull the domain name from the address bar and input it in the mailserver slot.
A: Not going to be able to do this as mail.hsphere.cc is just going to HTTP redirect to there so the domain would no longer be in the URL. A: I am going to see if they can do this to go to mail.domain.com and if it fails try mail1.domain.com for the mail server. 3) Have a "Remember me" box. I think this is a great idea and we should have it in combination with one of the methods above. This could remeber the users e-mail address so they don't have to type it in all the time, we would also need a "Forget me" button for security. A: May be able to do this one as well I will send these to atmail to check out.

SSL is an option yes but the problem would be trying to get an SSL cert for an IP address I have never tried that unless you guys don't care if the customer sees webmail.hsphere.cc for SSL thats about the only way it can be done. As for the security risk, its not really a security risk it just means you could use more of our bandwidth. If we do it where it just uses mail.theredomain.com from the email address then it may stop them from being able to do that as much.

Admin, how would one do this:
"http://216.157.131.123 or http://webmail.hsphere.cc or you can make http://webmail.yourdomain.com and point it to 216.157.131.123." |

By simply adding a custom "A" record to your service domain
