MySQL access is unavailable from unix2
MySQL access is currently completely unavailable from unix2.hsphere.cc, and any sites that are on that.
The error report says: Warning: Host 'unix2.hsphere.cc' is blocked because of many connection errors. Unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts' Mysql.com has the following information about this error: http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Blocked_host.html Either: - somebody's scripts are dropping connections without closing them properly Or: - there is a problem with the TCP/IP connection/socket between unix2.hsphere.cc and mysql.hsphere.cc I have submitted an URGENT request for help, as there is nothing I can do, and my site(s) are currently effectively down. Please help somebody...there's nothing I can do. The admins need to run: mysqladmin -h mysql.hsphere.cc flush-hosts and that would solve it...I've tried it through SSH, but I don't have proper access....... Cameron |

Please don't post and submit a trouble ticket, we also do not have permissions to do this so what good does posting it here do you?

I submitted an emergency ticket at 7:53pm EST and haven't heard anything yet either.

As someone with a lot of clients running ASP on W2K, I will respectfully refrain from making any snide comments about one of the UNIX servers going down. :-) Seriously though, I hope someone sees your tickets soon.

It's not down, it just doesn't WORK right.
Sorry, I just had to say it, I know it's not nice. |

In a Feb 6 ticket that I had submitted, I was told:
"We have a flush host command set to run every five minutes. The problem appears to have been cleared up by that command." I guess something else happened this time, but it does appear to be the same error. |

Or maybe someone changed the cronjob(lets hope not though)......

I think someone must have changed the cronjob....Brad fixed it for me (ran flush-hosts) around 11pm, so it was down for over 3 hours....obviously more than a 5 minute cronjob would fix.
They have now apparently put up a new cronjob to run every 2 minutes, which is great.... One final note, landiserve, I realize that this isn't the forum for trouble tickets, and I did post one. What I suppose I was hoping is that someone here would have some ideas as to how to get around the problem, without having the permissions that only an admin would have.... ..perhaps I should have phrased it differently, but in that respect, I think (and tell me if I'm wrong) that this forum would be a good place to promote that kind of dialogue.... No it's fine, I just didn't see how any of us could help, I guess the only thing that might work is for a few of us to have access to some hidden PHP file on the mysqlserver that would run the flush.
But, i don't see that coming from anywhere. |

Something was wrong with the Cron hostnet fixed it today.
