I'm popping over to WebHostingTalk now to see what the reaction to this is.. it's a significant deviation from the behaviour of every other HSphere reseller out there, so it should make quite a point of discussion.
See you there, Brad. ![]()

I am primarily a bystander not being a reseller. But it is obvious to me that there is a major problem brewing, or continues to brew, and it is all based on lack of communications.
Almost all who were on Vortech for years know how things were a few years ago versus now. I get an uneasy feeling that the company is freewheeling or essentially rudderless, going from one technical problem to the next, with seemingly no overall plan to establish and then maintain a stable reliable system. All that is speculation based on an absence of communications about plans, status and intent. That void gives rise to a lot of wild guesses and assumptions, and of course fear, on the part of the clients. This bad feeling is easy enough to address. The OWNER Must get back on here and be upfront with the clients and tell of what has been going on, what plans are being pursued to correct the impression of a system melting down, and what we can expect. He must submit to our nervous questions and interact with us as if we were not the enemy. Maybe a hosting company is not exciting anymore with the high level of competition and expectation, as rock bottom prices, or maybe there is a burnout factor involved...or whatever the reason is Brad has neglected his responsibility of communicating his vision to his clients. Set up a date for an on-line discussion about the status of the network, plans and efforts to correct the slide. If something is not done to correct the loss in confidence in the system and Vortech in general, wouldn't it be easier to just close down the company and save the hassle of the current downward spiral. Hire an outside admin to look over the system and make objective recommendations to get the system back up to normal performance and reliability. The staff is under the gun daily trying to keep things from imploding and so have not the time nor the objectivity for that task. Only after clearing the air can confidence be restored that our interests are important. No one expect miricles, just a reason to believe that there is a plan and method. We were promised months ago and nothing ever came of it. Brad, set a date, soon, be here or we will all take it as a sign you just don't care or wish us all to leave. |

It seems we should move anywhere else. I have already paid $4 for each account and now I have to pay extra $100/Month for them, as I have about 200 accounts!

Hmm Seems like i joined the party too late !
I just came onboard and the reading here is a bit shocking!! If thats the way to treat people then maybe we came to the wrong place !! I hope there is a good reason for these changes and it was just poorly explained !! we have 600+ customers awaiting the move to vortech i think this time only our freebees and cheap private hotels are moved i will keep my vip's and the ordinary buisness customers elsewhere... at least for a while Regards Monzterdk

Until some signs of the long festering problems are being taken seriously you might be best advised to do as you suggest, keep more important clients on systems that work reliably. Vortech used to be 1, a remarkable deal, 2, reliable. In the last year or so the entire hosting universe has changed to the point of reliable high performace hosting is available very cheaply from thousands of souces. The technology has changed...now dedicated servers are cheap, VPSs are available for any price point one could imagine. I got one that I am happy with with. Price was not a deciding point...reliability and performance was, to host just a couple mid to low volume sites that required database access. As it turns out, in my efforts to isolate ourselves from the problems of resource abuse and server overloading we struggle with on Vortech, I spec's way over our needs. Even with the high performance capability, the cost for month to month was $75 and when we changed to prepaid 12 months it dropped to $60. A more appropriately configured VPS for our actual needs would have been $20-30/month. Low ball VPS regularly go for $10 or less a month. I suspect this new hosting reality is part of the problem with communications here at Vortech, it is just not glamorous anymore and other businesses interests get all of Brad's attention and enthusiasm. Are you hosting for tourism industry sites there in Denmark? That were our focus is on, incoming tourism, including shore excursions in Denmark and other Baltic ports. Did you have a problem with site visitors in your region not being able to see Vortech hosted sites due to the problem with Cogent? We have business service partners in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland and they can not see our Vortech hosted sites or email boxes. |

I think calculation on vortech's end is simple, take me as a exmaple
we have 120 accounts on $35 plan(20 accounts included for free), which means we paid $4X100=$400 before. Now, with new pricing, we have to pay $50 more every month So, EVEN 50% of clients like me leave, vortech STILL EARN $50(gain) -$35(loss)=$15 Wich means, yes, just leave, and actually they don't think more than 50% of clients will leave, maybe 1/10 only ... They LIKE seeeing us leave in some way, more spaces and server resources will be available with our $400 that no one will claim forever... Last edited by serverzb : 04-24-2008 at 10:32 AM. |

No but we are not going any where if you were charged $4 in the past 8 months we will be happy to credit those charges to even it out the problem is a lot of users are abusing the system and is one of the reasons for the late upgrde as well. Many other companies charge per month this is to help support us. Trust we want to raise the level of support not let it go down and thats what we are doing, we still have to support that $4 account some one may have payed for 3 yeaars ago is that far to new users even you guys here now NO. This will allow us to hire more techs and upgrades we also already the new version of atmail, h-sphere is next. Anything else you guys need please reply. But we must go this route as the company runs fine the old way but we will be able offer 10x better service with just this small increase this will even open doors to VPS, Exchange ect just keep these things in mind please.

I am glad to hear from you Brad. Maybe you should have started this thread yourself explaining that the extra charge is to be able to offer better support and new features (VPS, Exchange, etc) . Surely it would have be easier for everyone. Anyway it is good you hear you have plans to improve service an features. |

Condense domains into fewer accounts -- Tools or Procedures?
For customers with domains that can be consolidated into fewer accounts, what tools or processes are available (or can be suggested) to help streamline it, and minimize downtime?

Email System Upgrade
If you are deciding where to allocate the new funds, I would recommend more stable, reliable and redundant email system/servers.
