Beating a dead horse here perhaps... but I have to tell you that taking the time to make this change is worth it.

I just moved a domain away from NT45 and tested the contact form. It went directly into my Outlook 2007 junk mail box.

I edited the DNS with the information above and then tested the form again...

not junk! yea!!

As we battle the ISP's, we should remember that we are also battling client junkmail filters and it would appear from this situation that adding the custom txt line in the DNS made all the difference in the world.

Easy to do. Just wish I'd known this before.

Why can't the account creation scripts add the dns text record "v=spf1 a mx include:hsphere.cc ~all".

Sure would simplify life.

I have to submit a ticket every single day (sometimes 2-3 times in the same day after multiple ip rotations) because Comcast or Bellsouth rejects emails from what seems like every forwarding email server Vortech has.

Is no one else experiencing this? I have a script that runs daily that emails my customers important information. Everyday, my Comcast customers never get the emails, because they are rejected back. I put my email address in the From, so that any bounces come back to me. I create a trouble ticket and give support the bounced email info and they say "rotated ip". The problem is that Comcast and Bellsouth have very specific instructions regarding how to get the server removed from the blacklists. What ends up happening is that at some point once the rotated back to the same ip that was blocked the first time, it gets blocked again, because Vortech is not following their policy. Also, it does not appear that Vortech has a clue about who is causing us to be blacklisted. Nor does it appear they care.

I have requested Vortech give me another solution to keep this from happening and all they can do is blame Comcast. I blame Vortech for not following through on Comcast policies and for not being proactive to figure out who is spamming comcast which gets us blocked in the first place.

i have been dealing with this identical problem for a very long time. it's extremely frustrating, and i'm in agreement with every point you make too.

but, at the end of the day, we as consumers have the right to choose with whom we do business. if vortech won't address the issue, then i must. sadly, i've had to open an account with a different reseller company. as a responsible business owner, i've been left with little choice. it's a huge pain transferring my clients, but the accounts i've setup with my new reseller have had excellent success.

vortech was great when i initially started with them and, although they continue to offer good prices and curteous service (imo), the time has come where it is painfully obvious things are slowly going downhill. still no regrets... just saddned.

The forward IP's of the mailing servers always keep getting blacklisted no matter how many times they are rotated.

Email is an important part of any business. But I doubt what we expect from Vortech except keep rotating the IP's. Since these are shared servers, the IP's are bound to get blacklisted.

If anyone has a serious suggestion for Vortech on how to solve the problem, then please provide it to them here and also thru a support ticket. Now if a solution exists and Vortech does not apply that solution, only then we can consider leaving Vortech, otherwise it's not their fault.

I am moving my most important domains to a dedicated server to make sure the emails get through, I can't expect such a benefit on a shared hosting plan.

It's easy to open an account and the charges are reasonable, no need of any monthly activity and no monthly charges. Their new system is great and support is also good.

I emailed Comcast two days ago, let me just say they appeared to be very helpful, they told me they took our IP's off of their black list, which was all well and good until today when I walked in and they black listed some of the IP's again. The fact of the matter is that Comcast will block anybody for pretty much any reason, I will continue contacting Comcast to see if we can't get a permenant solution but the more I attempt to deal with them the less they seem to care. I'll keep you all posted on the ongoing battle with Comcast. Just for a quick read on Comcast check this link out

it's nice to see that you are trying to resolve this issue with comcast. now that it's about a day later, have the re black-listed the mail ip's again? is there a way to elevate this issue within comcast so that it reaches someone with capacity to institute a legitimate remedy?

furthermore, what can i - or we - as customers do to help? it may sound trite, but perhaps some sort of petition to really grab their attention?

At first it seemed that the fix "v=spf1 a mx include:hsphere.cc ~all
" worked but sadly I must say it does not. Comcast still rejects e-mails from my domains randomly. Any more ideas?

Just got another bounce message from a different host saying that I am blocked for Spam. How can other hosting services keep themselves off these lists and we can't?

My frustration reached new peaks in recent months with delayed email, bounced email, emails being delivered blank, and emails simply disappearing. Monday I ended up purchasing an HSphere based hosting company (which had their own cluster, and a number of resellers, and I would welcome more). As soon as I migrate the cluster to a DC in my city, I'll be moving my clients from Vortech to my own hardware. Of course I was refused any refund request (unfortunately for me, I'd just had my annual fees charged, making me that much more upset over this, especially since it's due to poor quality of service). I am an extremely patient man, but my patience has run out.

Ugh. Some of the domains I host have just started to experience bounces from comcast. This is the first time in the several years that I've had problems and I sure hope it gets sorted out quickly!

I found comcast's status page (Comcast PostMaster Page). Just thought I'd pop it in here for safekeeping:

Is that right?
Will this apply the spf1 to all domains under your service account (in your reseller plan)?

Well I am having comcast issues now too, but there have been odd things getting worse for over a yr on and off. Alias's mysteriously got screwed up so had to reset things, but mail just got lost. Nothing had been changed on this end. Support has just shrugged about this. I find i can send an email from same domain to same domain and need to send another email to push it thru or it must sit in the queue. This is inconsistent when it happens, but I got a comcast bounce today from bouncehost
Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
Maybe it is to do w/ the outage problem overseas. But I seem to be seeing this on other comcast accounts also. I do have the spf setup also. The accts tested are getting email so not sure why it is bouncing. Is that spf setting adequate for an spf lookup? frustrating.
