mail10 No-Worky

Is anyone else experiencing problems with mail10? I am experiencing intermittent SMPT response failures.

Could it be a DNS-related problem?

I just noticed that Mail 11 was replace exactly two months ago today.
It didn't seem to help much. (Or did it cause it??)

What is the official status? Is there a problem that is being worked on? Or is someone trying to determine what the problem is?

I need something to tell my customers please. They are not accepting the standard "I'm looking into it" phrase anymore. I either have to give them some indication that there is work being done on the problem or I have to find another way to get them email functionality.

Thanks
John

I have had problems on all our account's email servers today, but especially mail9... so don't feel like you are imagining things.

I am going to chime in on the whole "Vortech is changing" theme that has been going on lately. Don't get me wrong, I moved to Vortech because of their great support, stability and cost effectivness... but.

The support has really been not what it used to be in the past. Issues were generally resolved in minutes not hours or days. And if it was something that was a system wide issue like this mail9 thing we would at least see tech postings periodically.

I am one of the ones today who was nipped in the ass today by my clients because of the email problems. I finally received a notice that there are "load problems" on mail9 and that they are still working on it. The other server issues I was told was due to heavy forwarding traffic... just thought I would pass that along to all of you.

Now for the venting... I too miss the 24 hour phone support and the fact that almost everytime I called support a human answered. In fact, that was probably the most important reason that I switched to Vortech in the first place.

I too want to comment on the "keeping up with the Jones'" comments. I used to buy the story that Vortech is just more conservative than other hosts and they simply want to have the best damn servers bank in the world. That works for some things like hsphere problems becasue we know what psoft is like, but on stuff like OS's, databases and scripting languages it seems like Vortech is way behind. Maybe it is partly due to how psoft ties things together, but some of this stuff has been out for years now and virtually all other real hosts have it... I am sure Vortech in all their wisdom (which is usually ahead of the rest) can make it happen too.

I am hopeful that everyone is listening to those of us who have commented on this issue... we are really not trying to beat up on anyone. We are just trying to point out some of the issues as we feel them. Sorry for venting in the wrong area... but maybe someone will see it here. The other areas where the similar threads are seem to get little or no response from above.

Hey... when it comes down to it. I am still here right?

I agree with esites

I am new to Vortech; I moved to them because of trouble with previous host. Before switching, I called the support line and a real person answered, I was impressed; but apparently that was an exception rather than the rule. I leave messages with support but have never received one return call.

I too have been having SMTP problems with mail11 all afternoon, my clients are not happy.

There are things I relly like about Vortech, but consistent SMTP problems is souring all the positive features.

I hope Vortech takes this issue seriously and gets it fixed for good.

I think what happens is these companies grow very large and stop caring about their customers. I have been with Vortech for about 3 years and they have progressively gotten more and more rude.

a business needs email to operate. I may not be a large customer of Vortechs, however I lost thousands of dollars in one day because of email issues. To not even have a offical response to the half dozen emails I sent or something posted on this forum is just rude. I will be changing ISPs soon

The techs fixed a configuration problem with the mysql database for Mail11 and they have not seen any errors in approximately 15 minutes. They will continue to monitor the server but it looks like (crossing fingers) that the issue is fixed.

sounds good, lets hope it stays good for awhile.
might want to email any shared host/reseller and let them know the good news this would defiantly help on the warm fuzzies that a few folks are expressing

I am still getting customer reports of problems and test emails to these accounts some times bouncing back.

This awesome 3rd party testing site that I use often is sometimes showing time outs attempting to connect to the account:

I do not think it is fixed yet.

Mail 11 Fix?

I have been struggling for weeks with Mail11 issues - first it was incoming issues now outgoing - it is definitely becoming hard to tolerate.

Is there a permanent fix in sight???

It seems all the problematic mail servers may have the same issue. Please see Please see http://forum.vortechhosting.com/show...768#post102768

Correction

Just to clear up an error of mine...
I posted above that I was experiencing problems with mail10. Wrong. It was mail11 that was giving me problems.

Sorry,
-Eric
