Webalizer Configuration File
Has anyone utilized the Webalizer Configuration file (webalizer.conf) to customize their stats. I configured one and put it in the Webalizer folder, but I doesn't seem to have an effect on the stats.
Does it only effect stats gathered from the install date of the webalizer.conf file on? Also, can I put IP's in for the IgnoreSite configuration? Any help would be appreciated. |

How do you protect the /webalizer folder form public viewing? You cant use .htaccess, cause it wont allow the stats to be written???

One of our customers (e-commerce) is scared to have their stats available to anyone. If we can't protect webalizer on Unix, are their other stat packages that can be protected?

Personaly I would turn off webalizer (it doesn't seem to work quite right anyways) and use a third party app to analyze the raw log files. When I used webtrends on my log files I discovered a whole lot that webalizer seemed to have just decided to leave out.

Is webtrends password protected?

Webtrends is not server based, it downloads the log files and then analyes them on your computer. It only uses the raw logs.

It used to be server based... My other hosting company used to support it... it was really nice with 40+ pages of info + stats.

Funnyhat, actually there are several versions of WebTrends, it all depends on what you want to buy.

Haven't played/seen location of log files on the Unix accounts
here, but may want to check: http://awsd.com/scripts/weblog/index.shtml Big thing in using this is ability to have access to raw log files.

Oh yea, they are there, they are in the folder root, in a folder called logs, then sub-directories by the domains/subdomains.

Hi all... is it still true that Webalizer won't read a custom config file, or has that been changed since this thread was started?
Cheers!
