strange that no one is replying. Last time we had issues on nt38 vortech was all over this board. hope that burning smell is coming from my kitchen and not the server room

Sorry for the late reply, this would be the techs on shift fault for not keeping you guys updated.
This was not "schedule" in the sense of we had a lot of time to schedule. Since NT38 crashed a week or so ago it has been locking up, blue screening, or rebooting on it's own with no errors or clues as to really what was up. Today it did this 2 or 3 more times, I told David to mirror the drive over and put it in new hardware and we did not plan for it to take 2 hours to do, that I am sorry for. But after the mirror was done and we had an complet image of the drive we put it in the new hardware. Thats when the tech(s) seem to have went wrong. They should have contacted me or a higher tech to aid them in getting the image to boot to the new hardware. For some reason I am unaware of at this time the tech(s) did not contact me so NT38 is still on the "old" ( but less then 3 month old hardware ). I am working with one of our managers to setup a time and plan to do this later at night, this was the first time we had tried to image a server in this way and pressed for time. Again we thought it would be much faster less then 1 hour and would solve a all of the reboot issues. But this did not happen due to a simple boot error I was not notifed about ( 0x0000007B is the boot error and a simple error to fix ). NT38 is backonline and up and running on the "old" ( but less then 3 month old hardware ) hardware and running ok for now. We will send out an email tomorrow am around 12PM or 1PM saying when this will be done again. I will make a point of having this done later at night ET time. I removed some of the above post because they were a bit out of line. If you want to vent then contant me, me email is in the forum. But post such as mmason will always be removed if I think they are out of line.

What do you mean later ET time??? There are at least two clients in the few that have posted here that are based in NZ. GMT +13
Given all we have been through - do you think we could tolerate another downtime? Has anyone got a suggestion in the best way of moving a domain from this box without downtime? Hours of unavailability at a time, when no consideration is given to international clients, is unacceptable from a company offering those services to those countries. Why not give us a break and schedule it in the middle of our night and your day? It's only fair. |

Why don't you schedule this on a weekend. I have clients who need their sites up and running during the weekdays.

If I thought it could wait until the weekend I would, but it's really starting to get worse and I don't want you guys to have to wait for the box to be rebuilt if it does want to take a dive.
dickkyboy ET means Easter Time, we don't have just customers +13 we have customer +1 -1 +2 -2 +3 -3 +4 -4 +5 -5 ect we have customers ALL over the world. There is NO way to make everyone happy at the time I am sorry but just have a LOT more US customers and I am sure even some people in NZ have customers in the US. It sucks having to do it at all. Also dickkyboy would 2pm our time today not have been your night but your still here bitching about as if it was in your peak. We also think of our international clients and have done work on there night before. But I am sorry we and our customers have more US customers then NZ, we might even host more people then all of the natives that live in NZ, but I have not checked the population there. ![]()

A weekend is a great idea. Our 14 hr time difference is a problem for night maintenance.
