.NET Sites
Now all of my .NET sites on NT38 are throwing generic web.config errors as well. I'm out of business again.
What's an ETA on getting the .NET sites back up? |

Yep I have.
I'm sure they're swamped but it's taking a really long time to get a reply from them. I'm trying to be patient, but my frustration is just building up....I've been patient for over 2 days - going on 3! But I've really just about had it. |

Whilst your explanation about Host Headers in a standard environment is correct, there is also the HSphere ISAPI filter which controls some aspects of the filtering so it's not quite how things work in real life under H-Sphere. What you've written is effectively exactly what I described, changes at a router level may or may not be required depending on whether the standby server gets plugged into the same switch/router/VLAN. In a secure routing environment you can't just plug boxes in and give them IP's and expect traffic to start routing to them automatically. Brad one thing I would suggest to you, is to get one of the machines and just dump a copy onto a standby server once you've got your new procedures in place. Then once a month, with different Tech's on shift, schedule a full recovery of the box to be done as a training exercise, and just keep refining your system until your happy with it. One of the key aspects of having a good backup plan, is knowing it works, and that people are comfortable executing the plan. Having a simultated drive failure every now and then just keeps staff familir with what to do, and gives you a chance to refine procedures, tweak software etc etc until you've got it working well. I've already submitted a ticket about this so just be patient and I'm sure it will come back up, and/or someone will post a new thread about it. |

I don't think that vt feels like they can have that many drives in a system(which may not be necessary to have all those). However, these things which happen more than they should are quite costly.

The extra cost would be less than £200.

Apart from installing a better backup system, and test it regularly you should consider the amount of accounts you allow on each server. Most servers have 36GB or 72GB disks and have always take a long time to restore them, so what would happen if you need to restore a 250GB disk that it is almost full. Maybe it would take 3 full days.

I think Brad said NT38 was a 250GB box (an experiement into the use of SATA drives instead of the normal SCSI's they use). |

So how long should one wait before they should expect a reply to a "Critical" ticket from Support (going on 6 hours now) ???? Especially when our site is STILL down!
Also PM'd people but to no avail. I'm going to go balistic soon....just thought everyone should know. |

We already replied to your ticket, please keep this type of rant out of the NT38 thread. You are welcome to start another thread in the chit chat or customer forums.
