CP Scheduled Maintenance 11/1/2005

On November 1st, 2005 we will be upgrading the control panel to H-Sphere version 2.4.3 patch 5. The maintenace window will start at 12:30AM EST (05:30 GMT) and be complete by 8:30AM EST (13:30 GMT). During the upgrade, the control panel will be inaccessible. This will fix some CP bugs and introduce new features. Only the control panel will be inaccessible during the upgrade. No user domains, mail services, or databases will be affected.

I liked this message very much. Not only because of upgrade but also for the times in GMT.

Thank you Vortech for answering our prayers ;-)

What are the upgrades? Any new 3rd party tools? easy app? spf records?

Does Vortech plan to allow resellers to resell dedicated boxes from the cp when that feature becomes stable? (I know its still in beta testing now).

You can find a complete list of features and bug fixes here:

http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation....php?v=243&p=r

These are for each subsequent patch:

http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...hp?v=243p1&p=r
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...hp?v=243p2&p=r
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...hp?v=243p3&p=r
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...hp?v=243p4&p=r
http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...hp?v=243p5&p=r

As has already been discussed, we will not be installing EasyApp.

SPF records will be available, but will be implemented differently on our systems due to our custom H-Sphere installation.

Must have missed the discussion on easy app. The upgrades and fixes look good. Thanks for the details Dean.

Problems with easy app is it will install it supported apps ( http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation...yapp_list.html ) and it will update the installer but there would be no way for us to upgrade the installed apps. Also a lost of the apps in easy app have had a LOT of security holes in them over the past few months. So we think it would be best for us all to just leave it out at least until they come up with a upgrade option for apps.

All of those apps are free and can be installed. Its much better if users install these apps them self or pay someone to do it. This way they can upgrade it or have someone do it for them.

ditto. Adding GMT in your notifications is a small thing - but makes your overseas users (that's us) happy.

Thanks for converting to and posting the times in GMT equivalents as well! Most of us Europeans (well, at least me) aren't that used to converting time and timezones, so this is really helpful and really appreciated!

What would be really handy is just saying what the current local time is when you post, cause then we can just work it out from the time it was posted on the forum (assuming you setup your forum account to display you own local time)

That doesnt really help those of us who have no idea what the timezone of the server is, or what EST, PST, PMT or the rest represent... Thats what GMT is there for - a standard that makes it easy to translate to your own timezone.

But of course (to please the French) we should be referring to UTC not GMT.... ;-)

Upgrades

This may not be the right place to ask...

Will these upgrades include PHP 5?

If not is there any news on when that may happen ?

thanks.

Tonights upgrades only involve the control panel and its associated scripts. No other software is being updated.
