If you have an error document (e.g. a web page that will be displayed instead of a 404 error), you need to disable/delete this reference from the control panel, verify your site with google, and then reinstall it.
Documentation says they can't verify the site because ANYONE could then verify the site if they wanted to. This other person would then have access to your stats. Lev
