Just talked the tech in the DC. The new router is in place and he is working out the config to get it up and running. If all works out this should stop the syn attack. It's not taking any bandwidth it's just opening way to many connections for the server to take. So this "should" fix it.

Ok router is in place to stop the syn attack. Everything is up and running now. Please check your site it should be much better. It will not be 100% until the just get tired of trying to take down that server. What they don't know is there is a 7206 router now stopping them from attacking the box and only allowing good packets though to the box.

Tico open a ticket, the box has a .13 load now and we are not seeing them attacking now. I think we stopped it for now and all sites I have tested come up with zero problems.

Yea it seems they are still at or started up again. We are blocking most now, the server is up to 160+ connections to apache when it should be like -50 heck most of the time -10. We are still tweaking the router in front of unix1 to try and stop it a bit more.

When I can connect my CGI is still down. I tried re-setting the rights but that did not work. Do you have CGI turned off?

No CGI is on or it should be. No reason to turn it off really this would not affect CGI really beside you/we can't really get to it if the box is being flooded.
 I checked about 50 domains just now from home on RoadRunner and all was good for me. Sites I tested loaded in under 2 to 3 seconds.

Hi guys... FIY all sites should be up and running. If you have a site that is down it does not have anything to do with the attack anymore. We were able to stop the attack and even though we are still doing some tweaking everything should work.
If your website is still down, please submit a TT with a traceroute to the domain's ip and the output of "telnet ww.domain.tdl 21" and I'll get into it ASAP.

Well while I wait for my error logs to activate so I can see a real message. If anyone is having CGI problems let me know how you fixed yours. All my CGI stuff is broke and they all worked before this all started.
